In the Catholic church, the Christmas season has only just begun. The four weeks leading up to December 25th, liturgically speaking, is called Advent.
Advent is a time of waiting, of preparing. The first Sunday of Advent the scripture is usually John the Baptist calling out to the people, “Prepare ye the way of the Lord!”
And as adults, it’s all about preparing. Decorations, shopping, wrapping, mailing out cards, baking, cooking, and cleaning.
But as a kid, it was all about the waiting. I couldn’t wait for Christmas morning. And the waiting seemed to take forever. The month of December seemed to creep by one slow second at a time. Waiting and waiting for that wondrous day to come.
Now? Days fly by and my To Do list seems never ending. I wish for a personal assistant. Or a clone. And I tease my Jewish friend that I’m going to convert to Judaism.
Don’t get me wrong, I still love this magical season. I enjoy shopping for those perfect gifts and wrapping them with beautiful paper and bows. I love baking those special cookies and breads I only make at Christmas time.
But this month, I’ve been waiting eagerly every day for weeks and weeks for something. And I realized this anxious, nail-biting waiting, this longing for something to hurry up and get here was just how I used to feel as a kid waiting for Christmas morning.
Finally, the other day, I saw it for the first time. My NEW BLAZE COVER!
Isn’t it gorgeous? The book comes out in March and takes place on Maui and the background looks just like my research images. I’m a little anxious because I struggled with this story. Some books, (for me, it was Primal Calling) seemed to flow from my fingers like magic. Others seem to take their time in revealing themselves to me. But one thing I don’t have to worry about, thanks to the geniuses at the Harlequin Art Department (You all rock!) is the cover.
Anything you’ve been waiting for finally come or happen? Three commenters will win a copy of my September Blaze, NIGHT MANEUVERS!

You are so right. Awesome cover. Hot guy AND a beach! WooHoo! You’ve got my attention. What have I been waiting for? Hmm. Two weeks off to relax and chill. Well, I got the two weeks off, figuratively speaking. At least I’m not working the day job. Chill, not yet, but I haven’t given up. This morning, as my hubby was getting ready for work he said, “When can we take a week off and get away where it’s quiet?” Ha!

  2. Patsy L Roberts says:

Yes. We have been wanting to put a new metal roof on our house for years and we hired someone to come do it back in October but were put on a wait list. Then they went on a two week break around Thanksgiving and the weather held them off for a while. But FINALLY two days before Christmas they finished. No more leaks. No more rotten wood and a nice refreshed look to our house. I am so happy I could dance. :)
The book cover looks great. And as far as the writing goes, good things come to those who wait! :)

    • Hi Patsy,
Congrats on your new roof! Just in time for the worst of the winter weather. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas with loved ones.
      Stay safe and warm!
      Hugs!

      • Patsy L Roberts says:

Yes it was just in time. My roofer fell from our roof not once but twice and the last time suffered a compression fracture of the L2. I hope he is feeling better. They said he would make a full recovery. BTW we had a wonderful Christmas. I hope you did as well.

I anxiously await this time of year when family finally all gets together. I also look forward to the end of the month when new books for the following month come out. The bookstore I go to usually puts these new books out quite early so that’s fun to see which ones I can find from my TBR list.

    • Hi Joye,
I know exactly how you feel! I keep a list of books coming out each month I want to buy and get so excited to hit the bookstore and grab up my fave authors.
Wishing you a wonderful New Year!

  4. Colleen says:

Oh Wow! Now that is a mighty fine cover! :) I received a few small things I was hoping to get… a few days of spending time with my family was nice… Hoping everyone had a wonderful holiday!

  5. Summer says:

I love that cover. I finally have some time for more reading, which is always a good thing.

There is nothing “big” that I am waiting for! That could change any time. I might go to Oregon in March to see my granddaughter in a play but I won’t know if that is going to happen for awhile. Another small waiting is a drive over to the coast. I haven’t gone for awhile, it is calling to me! I’m lucky enough to live only about a hour or an hour & a half away. Sometimes I drive over to take my walk!!! This time of year it is whale watching.

I love the Uniformly Hot series. I’ll be watching for your book in March. :)

    • Hi Donna,
I wish I lived closer to the beach, Galveston is 5 hours away from me! I will pray that you get to go to Oregon to see your granddaughter.
Wishing you happiness in the new year!

The guy looks yummy. I tried at least twelve times to post my comment and no success. I really loved reading all your books and already have all of them, except the one coming out in March. Good luck and lets hope this works.

    • Hi Aurora,
I’m so sorry you had trouble posting! Thank you for trying over and over again.
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and wishing you a Happy New year

    Hi Jillian,

Well, I got a Kindle for Christmas, so now I can read all my free e-books. I still prefer paperback books. I love your new cover, but do not enter me in your draw. I already have all of your books except your March 2012 book.

    Happy New Year!

    • Hi Tammy,
Congrats on the Kindle! I’ve been procrastinating , an old dinosaur liking my print books. Let me know how you like it?
Thanks for coming by and Hope you have a fantastic New Year!

  10. Jane says:

Congrats on the lovely cover, Jillian. I’m not waiting for anything specific right now.

  11. katie says:

It looks AWESOME! When is it coming out??? So excited!

    • katie says:

Only enter me once, but I am waiting for my youngest’s son’s birthday to be over, only so I can work on cleaning/organizing…LOL. He has a January birthday, so not much more waiting! Is that wrong?

      • Hi Katie,
Not wrong at all. I completely understand.
But I will say, my “baby” (first born, 19) just moved out and I’m crying and wishing I had her back as my little baby girl. So try to enjoy them –I know you do–while they’re young and little. It never comes again.
The cleaning and organizing will always be there.
        Hugs!

  12. Alina D says:

Hi Jillian! I love the cover and I can’t wait for this book to come out! As for something I have been waiting for, well we finally got our backyard fence put up. And just in time for Christmas, YAY! Aside from that not much else. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

Have a Happy New Year! :)

I’m also looking forward to this new book! Maui, you go girl. I just know it will be fabulous. I have all of your back titles on my keeper shelf, so keep me out of the drawing too.

    • Hi Shadow,
I’m so glad you have your house to yourself again!
      Whew!
That must have been miserable. My parents came to live with me for a couple of years a long time ago and we all got along and it was still stressful at times.
