Woot! I have a new Blaze out. A SEAL’s Seduction is on the shelves. It’s in the stores. It’s out there, just waiting to be read!
I’m so excited to share Blake and Alexia’s story. These are two characters who were so vivid in my head – So real. From their intense personalities to the fears that hang them up, to the strengths that let them overcome those hangups and face their fears. I love it when characters come together like that. The only downside was, for me, that the characters were VERY real. I know so many authors who create these incredible visual odes to their story. They find models or actors who look like their characters, make a collage or storyboard or something totally cool with colors and setting photos and key words. I so want to do that! I can’t though. Because nobody looks like the characters in my head. It’s sort of like when you read a story and see the characters in a certain way in your head -and it doesn’t even come close to matching the cover photo. Am I the only one who does that?
My narrow vision of my characters usually makes things like video trailers a major challenge, but I worked with Theresa at Premium Book Trailers and she rocked it. She totally honed in on the essence and images that made my characters seem real in my head. And she made a rockin’ video
What do you think?
What d’ya think of the trailer? And what’s your visual process with the characters you read? Do they look just like the people on the cover of the book? Or do you form your own image, and ignore the cover?

I don’t usually see a lot of book trailers but I really enjoyed this one. Very dramatic all the way though. I usually do my own visuals. I get too upset when the cover doesn’t match the story.
Thanks, Kaelee
I was really happy with the results. Like you, it bothers me when the visual’s in my head don’t link with the images shown for a story. Especially when they are way off -like hair color or something. That’s always so jarring.
Great video. I rarely agree with the visual on the cover. I prefer to let the author paint the picture in my mind. There is something to be said for the headless torso on the cover. At least it doesn’t detract.
Thanks, Donna!!
I love that term -let the author paint a picture in your mind. Thats how I think of it, too. And yeah, a headless torso is quite yummy sometimes.
It’s funny -I have an issue with the faces not matching my vision, but I really have no issue with someone offering up their visual of a hot, hunky torso for me to enjoy
VERY NICE, TAWNY !!
Covers are nice when they have the hair color correct.
If it’s wrong, I try to not look at it while I’m reading.

Oh yeah, Angi
Hair color is always good! Of course, if its the heroine whose color is different, I can tell myself that she colored it somewhere after the HEA. If it’s the hero? That same scenario doesn’t quite work *ggg*
Great video, Tawny and I am going to buy your book. It does bother me when the people on the cover look nothing like the characters inside. Do they even read the books??
YAY -thank you so much, Tammy!!! I hope you enjoy the story
Let me know, okay!
LOL – good question. To my knowledge, usually the answer is no. But at Harlequin, at least, the authors do fill out a very detailed Art Fact Sheet and are encouraged to send along any photos of characters or other things that might help the art department tie the cover to the characters inside the pages.
Very nice video! I normally don’t watch these because they rarely depi what’s in the book. This was a good one. The book looks good and will be fun to read. Thanks Tawny for sharing!
Belinda
Thank you so much, Belinda
What a lovely compliment. I’m so excited that you liked the video and can’t wait to hear what you think of the story itself.
Tawny!
Your book trailer vid is AWESOME! Just…WOW! Can’t wait to read it! HUGS
Awwww, thanks *ggg*
Big happy hugs right back!!!!
