In honor of Mother’s Day, I’d like to give away some books!
My Harlequin Blaze, UNDERNEATH IT ALL, features a heroine who has moved cross-country to track down her birth mother. I can’t think of a more suitable story line for this special day, so I’ve got three copies to give away to bloggers today. All you need to do is post in the comments your answer to this question:
What is one trait you appreciate about your mother?
Winners will be announced here in the comments tomorrow so be sure to check back.
And to those of you celebrating this day, Happy Mother’s Day!

Hi Lori! I’m off to my sister’s where we’re having brunch with our mom. I’ve always admired the way she’s sought out new experiences and is a fearless traveler. And, well, okay, she brings me back great jewelry! (F)
(F) Oh wow this is a hard one because I love my mom for so many different reasons. The one that comes to mind the most is her strength! My mom is always there for me no matter what! She stood by me and held me when I cried the night my first born son died in the hospital and she took me to dialysis when I was awaiting my transplant and was there when I woke after receiving my kidney. She was always there to drive my daughter and I back and forth to Dallas from Lubbock (6 hours one way) to take her to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, when my then car wouldn’t make it that far. She was strong for my dad when he was sick in the hospital and had been there in ICU for a long time. She says she will never retire from her job because she always wants to be able to take care of those around her(She works in medical records doing the faxes from ERs all around Texas). My mom is the strength behind my dad, the chief fry cook and head bottle washer, but most of all she is MY MOM! I love you mom!
To all the moms and grandmas out there have a Happy Mothers Day! You keep this country rolling with your constant care, sack lunches and hard work. There is No greater job than to be a MOM! (U)
Hello Lori,
The one trait I appreciate about my mother is her ability of compassion. She always puts other peoples needs above her own. I wish I could spend the day with her. However, we are far apart in distance but not in heart. Have a great day.
My mother passed away in 1996 but one thing I always admired about her was her ability to make a home where ever we moved to. We moved a lot because my father worked for an oil company but you never heard Mom complain and she was always able to make wherever we lived a home.
Hey Lori,
Happy Mother’s Day to all of you, too!!!
The trait I admire most in my mother is her ability to make the best out of nothing. Have you ever heard that story about the Rock Soup where the guys are starving but the village people won’t help them. So they start making a Rock Soup. Slowly the village people all start bringing them other food to put in with it and eventually they have a full-blown stew to share with everyone.
That is my mom. She can bring a village together and make something from nothing. I just hope I have at least a tiny bit of that ability.
Have a good one!!! (D)

Hi Lori,
I admire how easy it was to talk to my Mom when I got into trouble she was always so understanding and didn’t freak out like some parents. I will always love her she was so strong.
Happy Mother’s day.

The trait of my mother’s that I most admire is that she will literally give you the shirt of her back if you ask. She likes being able to help people any way she can and hasn’t become jaded, like me, because of a few bad apples.
Happy Mother’s Day out there to all you moms!!!
She is always there for me. If I need advice about something or help with something that I need to get done I can always count on her. Happy mother’s day to all the moms out there! (*)
Happy Mother’s Day!
The trait I admire most about my mother is that she never gives up. Despite some challenging circumstances, she’s always persevered and always keeps finding ways to make things work. She’s a tough cookie that never breaks. I wish I could be more like that!
One trait I appreciate about my mom is her strong work ethic. My mom has been a music teacher in the elementary classroom for over 25 years now. She is always willing to go the extra mile to help students who may be struggling or who just want more one on one time. Instead of taking a planning period or lunch break she gives private lessons to students who can’t stay after school for lessons. After school she also gives private lessons to students. At home she devotes much time and effort into making her lessons both fun and educational. Her students always seem to love her and still come up to her at high school sporting events just to talk to her. In addition to her full time work she also has spent countless hours working at home to raise five children. She has spent many hours helping with homework and special projects, making treats for the next day after a child forgot to give her a note from the teacher (oops! sorry Mom), and making sure that our home was always a welcome and loving place in which to grow. Above and beyond that she makes goodies for my dad (a pastor) to take when he visits the sick or elderly. She always has a card and a plate of cookies or a loaf of fresh bread to give to those who have just had surgery, had a new baby, or lost a loved one. In all that she does, whether it is teaching at school, taking care of the needs of her family, or caring for those in our community, she does so with a loving and caring spirit. She is a devoted teacher, friend, wife, and mother and I am so appreciative of her. (8)
One trait that I love about my mother is she always finds a way to help no matter the problem… (F) (F) (F)
Hi Lori,
Happy Mother’s Day!
The trait I admire in my mother is she is always there for her family.
Hi Lori,
I really appreciate my mom’s patience. I can’t imagine not losing it with the antics me and my brother were famous for.
Happy Mother’s Day.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms!
I have to say one of my mom’s traits I really appreciate is she’s strong. Having my father leave her for someone else with 2 kids and a house to take care of is a lot. But she held it together and she was there for my brother and I and she stills is. She’s kept the house when many said she wouldn’t be able to. She’s the one person I’ll go to if something is bothering me. She has been there pushing me to be the best person I can be. She also has a helping hand for anyone who needs it. There are so many things that I admire about my mom.
One of my mom’s strongest traits is caring of others. She loves to help out older people who can’t always care for themselves. She spends time with them chatting and helping them with whatever they need. She never makes fun of or judges those who have disabilities or who are less fortunate. She’s my best friend and someone who is always willing to listen.
Hi Lorri
My mums most amazing trait is her ability to survive. Despite all life throws at her(and yes there has ben plenty), somehow she always just get through things, and carries on with life – no complaining, not bragging, not a word, just gets on with her job – of being a mum.
To all mums around the world – Happy Mothers Day!
Bye 4 now
