My favourite is Sawyer from Lost. I know he was nasty a lot of the time, but I loved him, I think he was my favourite. He showed deep down in his heart he was a good person and he didn't have a problem with people who stayed out of his face, but his gruff, angry persona was appealing. Bad boys are great in fiction. And #9 is when there's a friend in trouble for breaking the rules (in school or the law) he'll take the fall because the whole school or police force already assumes he did it because he has a bad reputation anyway.
