My biggest purchase was in August nine pairs of Name brand jeans at Sears and Elderberman for $67.98 total. I so love a good deal. Walmart was busy, but no one was shoving or pushing thats for sure.

Pure relaxation... what a concept in this crazy do-it-all-with-extra-glitter demanding time. We do a trip or something fun as a family (my family and my brothers') with each other instead of doing adult gifts (the kids are still little, so they all get pressies) so this year we're going to Disneyland. Its a great way to really enjoy the time, the holiday and like you say - not put a ton of work or demands on anyone. LOL on the 3am fire alarm requirement to get out of bed. I'm such an early Xmas shopper, I consider myself "late" if I'm not done by Halloween. But the last few years the family traditions have changed. We buy only for the kids (under 18) and the adults don't swap anything. We all get together the weekend before the holiday to have dinner together (out -- nobody cooks, nobody cleans, nobody has to do dishes) and enjoy our time together. The actual day is spent however everybody wants to spend it. Last year I didn't even get out of my PJs. Year before that I went to the movies. It's such a nice, stress-free way to do the holidays. I did go to one store on Friday -- Target. It was 3:40 p.m. and I bought a thing of butter and allergy medication. LOL. Then I was out. The stores were actually ok by then, but the only thing getting my butt out of bed at 3:00 am would be the fire alarm. Julie I never do Black Friday. I go out around 8:00 AM and usually miss the big rush crowds. This year, there were good deals on-line and I am a night owl, so I decided to shop from home. At 12:01 AM I went to Old Navy and bought jeans for 10.00 and a winter coats for 15.00 for my daughter. I was done in 5 minutes. Kohl's sale also started at midnight Central time. I am on Eastern time, so that was 1:00 AM for me. Expecting another 5 minutes, I was very frustrated that between their website going down and the pages loading very slowly, I finished 2 hours later and 3:00 AM. Since the store opened at 4:00, I was tempted to shut sown my computer and just head to the store at one point. I did get everything I wanted and many things did sell out, so I guess it was worth it and least I was home and it was quiet. I have shopped on Black Friday other years. I noticed that while the iPod touch deal seemed sweet at first (regular price, but a $50 giftcard along with purchase) most place has it on sale that same day - so the gift card deal wasn't nearly as appealing.
