My sister in law and my mother in law have both come to my house and the first thing they say is "Wow what a mess", hello I have three kids, my house is gonna be a mess. I would rather have a messy house and spend time playing with my kids then spend all my time cleaning, have a nice neat house, and ignore my kids. Ok so theres my rant. The comment I get the most from well-meaning but clueless friends and relatives is "I have a great idea for a story you should write! It's about a..." and they go on to describe some paranormal, action, religious, self-help--NOT a romance--story that I wouldn't begin to know how to write , much less be interested in. I try to gently persuade them they should write it themselves since they seem so passionate about the project. But by that point, I've already had to listen to them describe the entire story in detail. I completely understand the frustration and the need to vent. Every year I ask for GCs from bookstores. And every year I never get them. My mother states that I shouldn't be wasting all my money on books or all my time on reading. Now, mind you, reading is my ONLY hobby. I don't go shopping, go out drinking, have any crafty hobbies, etc...my true love are books and reading. She also hates my taste in reading...romance. She says I should be reading the classics. I always get "Why don't you read a good book?"Now romance isn't the only genre I read...but it is the mainstay of my reading. I didn't even mention GCs this year because I didn't want to receive the lecture on my books...but low and behold...I received a $50 Amazon card from none other than....my ex-husband believe it or not!!! He said I needed to spend money on myself this year instead of everybody else. You better believe...I didn't mention the gift to my mother!!! LOL.
