Unlike the majority of Blaze heroines, I’m a virgin.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Virgin.  Now I realize that since I’ve been married for 23 years and have given birth, this is surprising–but “virgin” can apply to more things than That Which Happens When Horizontal (or as our Blaze heroines know, vertical as well), and when it comes to New Year’s Eve parties, I’m a virgin.  Which means I have never gone out on New Year’s Eve.

 party

When I was growing up, we always spent the evening at home.  Sometimes friends or neighbors would stop by, but we never went out.  As an adult, I’ve simply carried on that tradition.  I’ve hosted numerous New Year’s Eve parties, but I’ve never attended one.  I’ve never wanted to drive home after a New Year’s Eve party, to share the road with possible DUI drivers.  Plus, I guess I just prefer to watch the craziness of Times Square on the tv while I’m in my warm house, sipping chilled champagne with my family and close friends.

This year my husband and I are planning a quiet, romantic evening with a candlelit dinner and a bottle of Korbel.  What are your New Year’s Eve plans–quiet or party?  Whatever you’re doing, I hope you have a wonderful time and I wish you a happy, healthy 2010! xox

Same here. Quiet evening with the hubby. Have a happy (and blazingly hot) New Year!

Hi Jacquie, like you I don’t really go out and celebrate much. I remember going out two times, once when I was just a teen, so there wasn’t much I could do to celebrate, and the other time a bunch of us went out to celebrate a friend’s bday, which is on NYE. That was a lot of fun, but after that, my celebrating has been pretty low key. I would love to be like one of the Blaze heroines and just party like a crazy woman, but alas, life tis not a Blaze novel. I will probably be home watching the ball drop on the tellie and read. Told you, very low-key. I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating with hubbie and the bubbly.

Have a Happy New Year’s everyone!

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

  3. Usually, we see a movie and are home long before the crazies are driving around. This year, parents of my son’s friends have invited us to hang out and play board games. Electronics are banned! :-D Have a Blazing New Year!

  4. Jacquie D says:

We’ll be watching the ball drop right along with you, Paula!
Your “no electronics” game night sounds like a lot of fun, Heather–I hope you have a great time!

I have never gone out either. Growing up we stayed home with the family and watched the ball drop on tv. And now I do the same thing with my family. The biggest tradition we have is the 12 grapes at midnight. Everyone gets 12 grapes, one for good luck for each month of the new year. Its something my parents brought over from Cuba when they came to the US and we have done it all my life. My kids really love this one too cause they love grapes, lol!

Have a Happy and Safe New Year!! (*)

I don’t go out either…the family stays at home…curls up in front of several good movies and great snacks. Then when it gets close to that midnight hour…we switch over and watch the ball drop in Times Square. Toasting the New Year in with Champagne and Sparkling Grape Juice for the kids!!!! (D)

    Happy New Year’s Everyone!!!

I usually go out to dinner with a group of friends, but this year just going over to a friend’s house to fix dinner. All of us are single and just don’t want to deal with another couple’s holiday.

While, I’m not a virgin (ahem), I’m all about the champagne and home with husband, family and friends (K)
