I heard about this song from my dear friend and mentor, Silhouette Desire author, Emilie Rose. I know some of you may not enjoy Country music, but give this a chance. It’ll be worth your 4 minutes.

If I had it my way.
This would be the first time that you made love.
I’d be the first man that your hands touched.
But we’ve both done our share of living.
Takin chances we were given.
I’ve never been big on looking back.
I don’t care if I’m your first love.
But I’d love to be your last.
If I could do it over.
I’d have waited for this moment to give my heart to you unbroken.
But if our mistakes brought us together.
Doesn’t really matter whether, we were saints or sinners in the past
I don’t care if I’m your first love.
I’d just love to be your last.
All I know is what I see when I look at you.
And all I see is what I’m feeling down inside.
And all I’m feeling is the feeling that I finally got it right.
When I wake up tomorrow.
I’m going to throw my arms around you.
Thank my lucky stars I found you.
Cause I know your heart has so much more than any man has touched before and
Nothing matters more to me than that.
I don’t care if I’m your first love, but I’d love to be your last.

I love this song, and I love Clay Walker. Who doesn’t listen to country music? The lyrics are so beautiful. I remember the first time I heard it, I had to stop and listen to the words. I was in the car…LOL! They are so romantic. If some man ever sang those words to me, I would be his forever. I can only imagine the feelings this would evoke in someone who’s lover, husband of a zillion years, new love, etc. said these words to them. How could you not fall for them? This song implies years of devotion to the one you love. You made it through all the ups and downs. As I listened to the song, and I pictured a couple that have been together for a while, and all these images of their first meeting, going through the rocky years, etc flew through my mind. Hearing and seeing those words again, evoked images of a couple that are much older now, and on possibly the last leg of their journey together. I know, one extreme to the next. It is a very thought provoking song. Thank you for sharing it with us this morning Jillian.
Peace and love,

Hi Paula,
you’re so right, if a man were to say ANY of those words to me, I’d melt and be his forever.
My dh is SO not the romantic. So, I guess I miss getting that from a man. But I have to say, my hubby may not SAY the words, but he shows me he loves me in the ways that I need the most, like ANY time I ask, he’ll stop by the grocery store on the way home from a long day at work without complaint. And he’s the best dad. And he balances the checkbook! I HATE dealing with the finances. So, even though he’ll never whisper sweet nothings in my ear, I guess I’ll keep him.
And get my daily does of romance from Clay Walker
Good Afternoon Jillian! I love that song! Clay Walker has some of the best songs. Well I love my music as much as I love my books, so I have quiet a few favorite love songs.

OOh, all great songs.
I also love some of the oldies.
Like Nat King Cole’s When I Fall in Love (song hubby and I danced to at our wedding)
Or recently I fell in love with an old song that’s now on the soundtrack of Julie and Julia called Time After Time. (NOT the Cindy Lauper song)
~~Time after Time, you’ll hear me say that I’m so lucky to be loving you~~
Great words.
Thanks for stopping by, Alina!
Oh definately “My best Friend” By Tim McGraw
(L) I never had no one that I could count on
I’ve been that down so many times
I was tired of hurtin’ so tired of searchiin’
Til you walked into my life
It was a feelin’ I’d never known
And for the first time I didn’t feel alone
You’re more than a lover
There could never be another
To make me feel the way you do
Oh we just get closer
I fall in love all over
Every time I look at you
I don’t know where I’d be
Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
You’re my best friend
You’re my best friend
You stand by me you believe in me
Like nobody ever has
When my world goes crazy
You’re right there to save me
You make me see how much I have
And I still tremble when we touch
And oh the look in your eyes
When we make love
You’re more than a lover
There could never be another
To make me feel the way you do
Oh we just get closer
I fall in love all over
Every time I look at you
And I don’t know where I’d be
Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
You’re my best friend
You’re my best friend
You’re more than a lover
There could never be another
To make me feel the way you do
And oh we just get closer
I fall in love all over
Every time I look at you
And I don’t know where I’d be
Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
You’re my best friend
You’re my best friend
You’re my best friend
Now that is a love dong!
Wow, Patsy,
I’ve heard that song plenty of times and I do love it, but I don’t think I ever realized what a LOVE song it is since it’s titled My best FRIEND. what absolutely romantic lyrics! Thanks for sharing!
It is my and my husbands song. (L) Because after all he IS my best friend
Awww, Patsy, that’s so cool.
I’ve never considered my hubby my best friend. I guess men were always a mystery to me. I never had any guy friends growing up. I have 4 sisters and grew up in an all female environment. For a long time men were sometimes the enemy, and sometimes the lover, but never friend. Now being married 22 years, I’ll have to think about if I would define my relationship with hubby as friendship…
Thanks for making me think
I love Clay Walker! Been a fan since I was 7.
All the songs mentioned are great and some of my favorites.
~ Your Everything by Keith Urban
~ I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes by Dierks Bentley
~ Fall by Clay Walker
~ She Likes it in the Morning by Clay Walker
Hi Nicole,
I love all the songs on your list. And I only wonder why Clay’s CD never got the play time it deserved on Country radio. I’ve requested several songs form it over the past few months. I know Clay has been diagnosed with MS and therefore can’t tour to promote his album the way most big stars can, but still…
Here are a few of my favorites
FOR YOU John Denver
Just to look in your eyes again
Just to lay in your arms
Just to be the first one always there for you
Just to live in your laughter
Just to sing in your heart
Just to be everyone of your dreams come true
Just to sit by your windows
Just to touch in the night
Just to offer a prayer each day for you
Just to long for your kisses
Just to dream of your sighs
Just to know that I’d give my life for you.
For you all the rest of my life
For you all the best of my life
For you alone, only for you.
Just to wake up each morning
Just to you by my side
Just to know that you’re never really far away
Just a reason for living
Just to say I adore
Just to know that you’re here in my heart to stay.
For you all the rest of my life
For you all the best of my life
For you alone, only for you.
Just the words of a love song
Just the beat of my heart
Just the pledge of my life, my love for you.
Lady In Red Chris DeBurgh
I’ve never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight
I’ve never seen you shine so bright
I’ve never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance
They’re looking for a little romance, given half a chance
I have never seen that dress you’re wearing
Or the highlights in your head that catch your eyes I have been blind
The lady in red is dancing with me cheek to cheek
There’s nobody here, it’s just you and me, It’s where I wanna be
But I hardly know this beauty by my side
I’ll never for get, the way you look tonight
I’ve never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight
I’ve never seen you shine so bright you were amazing
I’ve never seen so many people want to be there by your side
And when you turned to me and smiled, It took my breath away
I have never had such a feeling
Such a feeling of complete and utter love, as I do tonight
The way you look tonight
I never will forget, the way you look tonight
The lady in red
The lady in red
The lady in red
My lady in red (I love you.)
So Beautiful- Chris Deburgh
I’m lying here tonight thinking of the days we’ve had
Wondering if the world would be so beautiful
If I had not looked into your eyes
How did you know that I’ve been waiting?
I never knew the world would be so beautiful at all;
I’m spending all the days dreaming of the nights we’ve had
I never knew that love would be a miracle
When I think of all the ones before
But now that I’ve found you I am flying
I never knew that love would be so beautiful to me
I never knew that love would be so beautiful to me;
And when we dance to the rhythm that is burning like a flame
And when you touch me I can hardly move you take my breath away
You give me all that I want to feel when we become as one
And then you take me to the heaven of your heart;
Did nobody ever tell you you’re the best thing that has ever been;
Ah … you … ah … so beautiful … ah … so beautiful …
I’m standing here tonight thinking of the time we’ll have
I never knew that you would be so beautiful
From the day you came into my life
I just want to say you make me happy
I never knew that you would be so beautiful to me
I never knew that you would be so beautiful to me;
So beautiful to me …
So beautiful to me …
So beautiful to me …
… to me;
I’m lying here tonight
I’m dreaming here tonight
I dance with you tonight …
OMG, I’m such a HUGE John Denver fan! He’s got so many romantic songs.. I have all his albums, and I do mean the original vinyl LPs.
Lady in Red I’m familiar with, but the other 2, So Beautiful, and Thank you, I’ll have to go listen to. I’m sure I’ll remember them as soon as I hear them, but they’re not coming to me right now.
Thank you for posting a comment!
Hugs
Thought of one more:
“Thank You” Led Zepplin
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.
Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more.
Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by.
My love is strong, with you there is no wrong,
together we shall go until we die. My, my, my.
An inspiration is what you are to me, inspiration, look… see.
And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles,
Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.
Happiness, no more be sad, happiness….I’m glad.
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.
