If any of you are visiting Plotmonkeys on Wednesdays, you know that I’m giving away books. Lots and lots of books! What happened was I decided that my office was a wreck and I needed more space. Part of the lack of space is due to an overstock of author’s copies that I wasn’t aware I had. And so in a bid to introduce readers to my work, I’m giving away as many backlist books as I can afford to mail.

So why not spread the love a little bit here, too?

blaze blogTwo people who leave comments will get FOUR books. Three are Blazes…BOYS OF SUMMER, MORE BLAZING BEDTIME STORIES and THE DOMINO EFFECT. The fourth is my Blaze-style contemporary single title, MAKING WAVES.

I have a new Blaze coming out in June. It’s got a totally kick-ass cover. Want to see?

Cover Front Only

Obviously, it’s wedding themed. ;-) So, to win the four-pack, leave a comment about your favorite wedding-themed books or movies. Oh, and you have to live in the continental US to win the books.

EDITED TO ADD: Before it gets too late, I headed over the Random.org and had the computer choose two winners:

#34 Sue Hussein
#17 Cathy W! (I checked Cathy and I can send the books in a prepackaged Priority mailer, so the cost is not prohibitive!)

I’ll be giving away MORE books on Wednesday at Plotmonkeys, so do stop by for another chance to win!

    Harlequin’s “Diamond Bride” Series

Good luck with the clutter! :-)

  2. Alina Duffer says:

Good Morning Julie!! I love weddings! And books or movies about weddings are always fun. Some of my favorite movies about weddings are “The Wedding Date” with Debra Messing. It is such a cute movie, but its also sexy and romantic. Next is “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, while I am not Greek, I am Cuban and my family is just as loud and crazy, so the movie reminds me of my family. Also its funny as heck. Then there’s “My Best Friends Wedding”, anything with Julia Roberts is gonna be good, and this one is so funny! The last one I can think of right now is “A Walk To Remember”. While this one is kinda sad and heart breaking, its also beautiful and romantic. Since its still early and my brains not completly working yet Im sure there are a bunch more Im forgetting, but there are a few of my favorites. I love your books and I cant wait to read the one that comes out in June. Have a wonderful day!!! (*)

    • Julie Leto says:

Alina, we’re wedding movie twins!!! “The Wedding Date” is one of my absolutely favorite movies and my Cuban/Italian family is also a lot like “My Big Fat Greek Wedding!” I’ve only seen “My Best Friends Wedding” once, but I have to say that I loved Cameron Diaz in that movie SO MUCH. I mean, I loved Julia Roberts, too, but I thought the characterization of the bride really made the movie work.

Is “A Walk to Remember” the one with Mandy Moore? I cried like a baby.

  3. Wedding themed books are one of my favorite (right there with reunited lovers theme)

Alina mentioned all my favorite wedding movies.

Love your new cover. Very eye-catching. I’d pick it off the shelf just based on the cover. Good luck.

  4. Linda Henderson says:

I’ve been reading Nora Roberts Bride Quartet books and have been really liking them so far. The final two will be out this year. As far at wedding movies, The Wedding Planner, The Wedding Crashers and Sweet Home Alabama have had some of my favorite wedding stories.

    • Julie Leto says:

I’m not a huge fan of Wedding Crashers (just not my cuppa) but I loved The Wedding Planner (another one where the characterization of the bride was a nice, welcome twist) and Sweet Home Alabama! I didn’t think of it as a wedding movie until you said so…but of course, it is!

  5. Leela Soma says:

Hey I’d love to help you get rid of the clutter if it means I could get to read your fab books, and there is a wedding in the family soon!

    Thanks.

  6. Jane Feather did a Bride series once. I remember the Hostage Bride stood out for me. But overall, I am not hung up on wedding themes. Like any romance book, if it is a story well told that is all that matters. :)

  7. Crystal says:

Great giveaway, I love your books.

My favorite wedding movie (which I see mentioned above) is My Best Friends Wedding. Not only is the movie cute and fun (who can forget the ice sculpture) but the soundtrack is amazing too. I love that soundtrack as a pick-me-up and sing-along.

I can’t think of any wedding books at the moment – isn’t that sad.

  8. Jen Hall says:

My favorite movie would have to be “The Proposal” with Sandra Bullok. I just thought it was hysterical.

  9. Lexie says:

Actually I just saw an asian film called ‘My Little Bride’ and its all about a secret marriage. Its really funny and sweet! I really liked Debbie Macomber’s ‘Fairy Tale Weddings’ as well, though hmm…I can’t think of too many others!

  10. limecello says:

Whoa… your new Blaze book totally does have a kickass cover, Julie! My favorite wedding themed movie? Ummm… does Love Actually count?
Otherwise as Alina said – My Big Fat Greek Wedding. And for books with weddings? :X I’m blanking, but I know there are too many to choose! Oh – Susan Mallery’s Sparkling series (well the first for sure.) And Susan Lyons/Fox’s new Fallon sisters series…

  11. Teresa Warner says:

My favorite read was The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks! The Wedding Crashers was lots of fun, thanks for the opportunity!

  12. Teresa W. says:

My favorite read was The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks and The Wedding Crashers was lots of fun! Thanks for the opportuinty!

  13. CrystalGB says:

Hi Julie. I love wedding stories. I loved Wedding Crashers and Bride Wars.

    • Julie Leto says:

Bride Wars?! That sounds familiar…but I don’t think I saw it.

      • Paula R. says:

Hey Jules…it is weith Kate Hudson and Anne Hathway…two best friends from childhood who wanted to get married in the Plaza hotel, and end up having their wedding date on the same day at the same time…Candice Bergen plays the Wedding planner in tha tone…It was pretty funny. You should check it out.

        peacea nd love,
        Paula R.

  14. Colleen says:

I have enjoyed many wonderful reads with weddings… My favs are the historicals, whether the bride is kidnapped, the couple runs away together, or they have a huge bash… I love them all for their HEAs! :-D

  15. Paula R. says:

Hey Jules, my fave wedding book, off the top of my head right now, is One Wild Wedding Night by Leslie Kelly. I know, it is after the wedding is done, but hey what can you say. The wedding themed movies that I love are Runaway Bride, The Wedding Date, The Wedding Planner, Monster-in-Law, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. That is all I have for now, but I love these movies because they are all different and special in their own way. I absolutely love the cover of your new Blaze!

You don’t have to enter me into the contest okay. Just wanted to drop by and show some love. Have a great rest of the day.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

    • Julie Leto says:

Leslie’s ONE WILD WEDDING NIGHT is totally classic! I loved Monster-in-Law. What a great movie. Love Jane Fonda, loved Jennifer Lopez in it, loved Wanda Sykes.

  16. Patsy Roberts says:

    (L) I absolutely love “Twenty seven Dresses” It was the most romantic movie and funny too. I bought it so I could watch it over and over again.

    • Julie Leto says:

I haven’t seen that one either…but I did count up how many times I was a bridesmaid. I think the number was 13. Of those, only two had really ugly dresses. One dress was gorgeous, but was the most uncomfortable dress I’d EVER worn. We couldn’t move our arms! Two or three were absolutely GORGEOUS.

I let my bridesmaids pick their own dresses. That way, they couldn’t complain. :-)

      • Patsy Roberts says:

I have only been a bridesmaid in like three weddings of course two of those were for the same girl (different husbands) the dresses were pretty except one Which was the last one but I think that had more to do with the fact that I was like REALLY overweight from my transplant meds so I would have hated anything that was presented to me. *sigh*

The movie was a good one tho… ;-)

  17. Cathy W says:

This is where I once again need to protest that Alaska *is* on the same continent (North America!) as the 48 contiguous US states, and thus is part of the continental US! But I’m guessing that while I may be technically correct, it still won’t get me in the running for any of those books, eh? Oh well.

My favorite wedding movie is Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. It was made way before I was born, and is rather outdated, but I still can watch it again and again. And I usually have one of the songs stuck in my head for days after, LOL Bless her beautiful hide…

    • Julie Leto says:

Cathy, I swear if your name comes up at random.org (which is how I pick winners) I will check the cost before I decide. If the postage costs more than the books, I have to balk! I know you’ll understand. I suppose I should say “continuous” US?

I just went to send some books to Germany…the cheapest way was $60! I ended up sending less books. (It wasn’t a contest…just sending them to a friend.)

      • Cathy W says:

LOL – yes, continuous or contiguous!! And if you send USPS mail, you can send Media Mail (book rate). 3 of the Blaze size books can generally be sent for $2.38. *ahem* Yes, I know these things. (H)

But yes, I totally understand cost being prohibitive!

  18. Takyra Morgan says:

I love the Blaze books especially wedding books Nora Roberts wedding series is my favorites right now and also Rochelle Alers wedding series.

    • Julie Leto says:

I’ve never read a Nora Roberts single title. There, I confess. I’ve read the JD Robb books, which I love, and I have a ton of her series books, but I don’t know why I’ve never read any of her single titles. I love the movies, though! Wish they’d do more!

    • Wendy Marcus says:

      Hi Takyra!
I love Nora Roberts wedding series, too! I can’t wait for the next one!

  19. JenP says:

I love Nora Roberts’ new brides series. And I have to admit, I love the Wedding Planner movie.

  20. Ashley says:

I love way too many wedding movies. 27 Dresses! The Wedding Date! My Big Fat Greek Wedding! My Best Friend’s Wedding!

  21. Michele L. says:

    Hi Julie, :-D

I was just over at Plotmonkeys and popped over here. What a nice surprise to see you here! I love wedding theme books and yours looks fabulous! I am a sucker for wedding themed movies. My all time favorite is MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING. I just love the scene where the mother of the groom brings a bundt cake to the prospective bride-to-be Greek parents. Absolutely hilarious!

Oh and the FATHER OF THE BRIDE movies are a hoot also! How fun that you chose to write about a wedding! I can’t wait to read it now!

What was the idea behind writing this book since it is a departure from your other books? Did something inspire you to write it? Also, did you find it easier or harder to write than your other books?

Love your books Julie! You are an amazing writer! :-)

  22. Donna M says:

    Hi Julie,

I was just at The Plotmonkeys!! :-) Wedding themes are always fun. I recently watched The Proposal and it was a much better movie than I expected. My Big Fat Greek Wedding was so good as was My Best Friends Wedding, how about going way back to Father of the Bride with Spencer Tracy & Elizabeth Taylor! Unlike another person that mentioned Seven Brides for Seven Brothers I was an adult, or close, when it was made. I still love it & have watched it several times on PBS, no commercials! Then there is Royal Wedding with Fred Astaire all of these are good wedding movies. Books, The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks is a very good read, Leslie’s One Wild Wedding Night is one of my all time favorites of hers & the wedding theme. Your new Blaze coming out sounds great, love the cover. Nora Roberts current series The Wedding Quartet has been very good the next two books will be out this year.

Glad I came by today! (Y)

  23. Bride Wars was my favorite wedding movie. And Nora Roberts’ Bridal Quartet series has been entertaining so far!

  24. Lell says:

Favorite wedding movie will always be “The Bachelor.” It’s cheesy and a little dated now, but there’s just something about the shot of Chris O’Donnell racing down the hills of San Francisco in a tux, chased by a sea of white–bride hopefuls. It makes watching NCIS: LA even funnier.

As for wedding books, I’m enjoying the Bride Quartet Nora Roberts is in the middle of writing. I remember reading a few chick-litty “bride freaking out” type books, but…since I can’t even remember their titles, they apparently didn’t strike much of an impact. Ah, well. The cover looks fantastic.

  25. Eileen says:

Oh! The comments above list so many fun movies. My Big Fat Greek Wedding and 27 Dresses were both just fab! But my favorite wedding movie would have to be Love Actually. I just adore how Love Actually starts with a wedding — what we think of as the pinnacle of romantic love — and then goes and shows us love in so many, many different forms. (I’m tearing up just thinking about it.)

Then of course there’s While You Were Sleeping — the best engagement movie ever. I quite literally have no idea how many times I’ve seen that movie.

    • Julie Leto says:

While You Were Sleeping is a favorite of mine, too! I think it’s probably the most perfectly CAST movies ever. Every single character was wonderful. Loved when he dropped the engagement ring in the till when she was working at the train station!

  26. Donna S says:

I am really enjoying Nora Roberts’ Bride Quartet series. The first 2 were great.

For movies well there’s My Best Friends Wedding, The Wedding Planner, Wedding Crashers, The Wedding Date, among many many others.

  27. Lyn says:

My brain doesn’t seem to want to function yet (although its only 10am here) so I can’t think of any wedding-themed movies I’ve seen. For that matter other than Leslie’s One Wild Wedding Night I can think of any wedding-themed stories that I’ve read.
I don’t think its really fair to call that my favourite when I can’t think of any others, but I think that I’ll me making yet another ‘to watch’ list of movies once the comments settle on this blog post.

Oh and count me out of the drawing – I’m so far from the continental US that its not even worth including me.

    • Julie Leto says:

I hate that I have to not include people on contests because of geographical areas, but I hope you understand! It’s just so expensive. In a few weeks, the Plotmonkeys have a guest blogger coming who will open her contest up to New Zealand and Australia because that’s where she’s from!

      • Lyn says:

I do understand – it’s expensive sending things overseas from here as well. I’ll have to make sure I check out that blog post.

  28. D.L. says:

I’m not big on wedding themed books (except one or two where the heroine was a wedding planner) but I love most wedding movies- The Wedding Crashers and Four Weddings and a Funeral come to mind.

  29. Julie says:

I’m not that huge on wedding themes, but one of my favorite favorite books is Julie Garwood’s The Wedding…it uses the forced marriage plot, but I love the spunky heroine who refuses to let her oft-disgruntled barbarian husband ruin her day. :D

  30. meaghan says:

the wedding planner has some of the best one-liners in it ever. i love many of the other movie mentioned above as well.

one of the first romance novels i ever read was the wedding by julie garwood. i read part of it at my grandparents house on vacation and had to hurry home and find my own copy of the book to finish it! :D

  31. karenk says:

weddings….i liked ‘the wedding planner.’ also enjoyed reading ‘the wedding’ by nicholas sparks. (L)

  32. Jane says:

Congrats on the lovely cover, Julie. My favorite wedding themed movie is Wedding Crashers. My favorite wedding themed book is Julia Quinn’s On the Way to the Wedding.

  33. Wendy Marcus says:

    Hi Julie!
I followed you from Plotmonkeys! Maybe I’ll have more luck winning some of your books on this blog!!!! (Crossing fingers, toes, arms, legs, and eyes!!!!!)

  34. Sue Hussein says:

Wow, another chance for more books, and Blazes too!! Keep cleaning!! I really love all wedding movies and always love a wedding in a read. I like funny movies and most of the wedding ones have been funny. The Wedding Planner is the first movie I thought of. I am enjoying Nora Roberts’ wedding series. Thanks, Sue

  35. Diana says:

One of my favorite rom coms is While You Were Sleeping. While it’s not a wedding-themed movie, there is a wedding scene that always makes me teary-eyed. It’s when Sandra Bullock’s character reveals her feelings for one of the brothers.

  36. mindy says:

    27 dresses thanks

  37. Lisa G. says:

    Hi Julie,
So glad to see you here today! My favorite wedding movies are My Best Friend’s Wedding, Father of the Bride and The Wedding Dress. My favorite wedding book is by Julie Garwood.

  38. scottsgal says:

Loved Wedding Crashers – obviously not my ideal wedding but funny nonetheless

  39. Sherry S. says:

I think that my favorite movie would have to be My Best Friends Wedding. I can’t think of any books though.

  40. Pat L. says:

I loved My Best Friend’s Wedding – it was so funny, especially the singing of Say A Little Prayer for Me at the rehearsal dinner.

Thanks for cleaning up your closet! Yoza! (Y)

  41. Sharon M says:

I really enjoyed My Best Friends Wedding, My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
I love wedding movies, I even liked the wedding scene in While You were Sleeping.

  42. Eshani says:

I love wedding-themed books and movies – the chaos, the romance, the fun and the love all combine for some fabulous stories. I loved My big fat greek wedding ( completely reminds me of my family), Bend it like Beckham (small wedding theme, but a fun movie), and I thought The proposal was hilarious!
For some reason, I just can’t think of one particular wedding themed book, but I do love Julie Garwood’s historicals, and most of them involve some sort of a wedding theme :)
Love the cover for your book!

  43. kh says:

congrats on teh books love blaze
    wtg winners (Y)

  44. Colleen says:

    Congrats ladies!! (*)
