(D) It’s coming up on spring break -either this next week, or for my kids the week after. Whohooooo, break time! Kicking back, releasing tension, letting the brain rest. A nice week of chilling by the pool or spring break drinkswarming ourselves on the beach. Of sleeping late and napping at will. Of hiking in the woods or partying at a club. Blowing off steam, welcoming spring. Party time, baby!

Oh wait… we’re grown ups now. We don’t get spring break anymore, do we? :-O

I’m going to pause briefly here to pout… Okay, all done. So we don’t really get spring break (and if we spring break sunninghave kids, spring break might even be scary times instead of relaxing times, right?) But lets imagine for a second that we did. A whole week just like when we were kids or teens, or even college-aged and vacationing on daddy’s dime (ha, I wish!).

So if you’re imagining your perfect spring break, what is it? I’m going to assume it includes a bag filled spring break lakewith books or your favorite fully-loaded reading device, because we all know recreational reading is a must. But what about the locale? Is it on the beach, with the warm sand sifting through your toes? The hot sun overhead adding to the allure of the blue ocean?

spring break club
Or maybe on a lake, cool and green? Something in nature with hiking trails, the call of the birds your background music? Maybe you’d prefer wild times at a nightclub where you can party until dawn, dance your feet off and get a little crazy? Meeting potential heroes or enjoying some fun with your own personal hero?

spring break tink
Or maybe your dream spring break looks something like mine, curled up on the couch with everyone out of the house… just a little peace and quiet? No packing, no traveling, definitely no phones or computer. Just letting the stress melt away.

What’ll it be? Is one of these your ideal spring break locale? Or do you have a different one in mind? Do you have a favorite spring break memory? Would you want to relive it?

Hey Tawny…love the topic for today. I actually just got off spring break, but it was no where near the fantasy of what I wanted. I did get to sleep when I wanted and read to my heart’s content though. My ideal spring break would be to go off somewhere to a house on the lake or beach, where it is warm and sunny. The house needs to have an outside porch where I could lie in a hammock or sit on a nice lounger so I can read without disturbance. I could watch a beautiful sunset or sunrise and just listen to the waves. That would be perfect for me.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

Oooh, Paula, now I’m wanting a hammock! That sounds so pretty and so relaxing. I’m a fan of sleeping whenever and reading all the time!

I’m sorry your spring break wasn’t fantasy material. I hope it was fun, though!

      • Paula R. says:

It was good enough for now (gefn). Maybe in the summer, I can live that fantasy somewhere, other than in Blaze books of course…LOL!

You know what I have never had one or slept in one, so that might have to be on my things I need to have when I get the opportunity to buy a house. Do you think it would be too much to add the other things in my fantasy? Hahahahahahaha!!!

        Peace and love,
        Paula R.

        • Tawny Weber says:

I vote that you get the entire fantasy, definitely :-)

I love hammocks. I’m a fan of the rope ones, they’re more of a challenge :-D

and yes, definitely keep on keeping the Blaze fantasies alive!!

          • Paula R. says:

Tawny, I don’t think I could make it through the day without reading a Blaze…LOL!!!

I hope that you are having a wonderful day. Happy writing!

            Peace and love,
            Paula R.

Hey Tawny! My kids are out for spring break next week. They will be spending some quality time in Florida with their grandparents. So, while they are having their fun, the DH and I are planning a 3-day weekend to Savannah. We are staying at a beautiful B&B. I can’t wait to sleep late and eat my food while it’s hot :-)

    • Tawny Weber says:

Oh man, Buffie, I’m having spring break envy. The B&B trip sounds divine — but no kids for the whole week? Oooooooooh yeah, now that’s a break!! I’ll bet everyone has an awesome week. Kids, grandparents and especially you and your DH. Happy travels!!

      • Buffie says:

I wish it was a whole week!!! LOL! But at least we get 3 days just the two of us. The kids will have a blast with the grandparents — they always do.

I am on Spring Break this week and I am off with my boys to my folks’ and then, we’ll head up to Vancouver. Today is an aquarium and in Canada, we’ll go to their Aquarium. Fun, huh? My husband is a CPA, so he’s busy working.

    • Tawny Weber says:

It does sound fun, Katie. My youngest daughter loves aquarium visits. If you thew in a couple stops at a zoo or two, that would be here ideal spring break.

This is crazy time for your husband, huh? I hope you all get another break after he’s through!

I never had a spring break. If I could I imagine I’d break in Atlantic City. I love the lights and glitz and..erm food there. Honest I don’t gamble..I just eat and walk the boardwalk and play with the seagulls and take lots of pictures. That’s also one of my ideal vacations, right up there with Lancaster and Erie PA.

    • Tawny Weber says:

Andrea, I lived in Las Vegas for awhile and while I don’t gamble either, the lure of the glitz and lights is fun. If you added a beach to that, it’d be amazing, so I’ll beet Atlantic City is a great time. I hope you get to enjoy a spring break there sometime soon.

  5. Alina Duffer says:

Good Morning Tawny! Great topic. My kids are on spring break this week and Im sure going to drive me nuts, lol! My Ideal spring break would be on a beach somewhere warm with my hubby, and of course some books! And just like Buffie, I want to sleep late and eat my food while its still hot, lol! As for favorite spring break memories, when I was a kid we used to drive down to San Felipe, mexico. We would rent a house down on the beach and spend the week playing at the beach and stuff. It was always fun. I miss those days. I hope to make some sort of spring break tradition with my kids at some point, but I think Indianas a little far from mexico, lol!
Well have a great day!! (*)

    • Tawny Weber says:

LOL Alina, that IS a long drive, isn’t it! But what a wonderful spring break memory. It sounds like you had a great time.

The beach does sound tempting, too. Warm sand, warmer sun. Lots of cold frothy drinks and a big ole pile of books.

I hope you stay sane through the kids break ;-)

  6. Colleen says:

Oh I love the pic of the dog curled up on the couch! That would be me but with a book in hand!!! (*)

    • Tawny Weber says:

Thanks, Colleen. That’s my Tinkerbell and to my knowledge, that was the last time she got on the couch LOL Right after I took that picture, she scurried off. I was so tempted to put a book in her paws, though.

Because, like you, curled up with a good book is my idea of the best break of all.

  7. Now’s the time to enjoy outdoors for us. In a month, it’ll be getting too hot and the mosquitoes will be out. Right now, it’s great for reading and writing outside. (C)

    • Tawny Weber says:

Blech – not looking forward to mosquito days, thats for sure, Heather! I am loving this spring weather, though. Its the perfect ‘hang out and relax’ temperature. I’m going to take my laptop out to write tomorrow and see how inspired I am LOL.

  8. Micole Black says:

I get the joy of working while my kids are out of school destroying my house! Spring break for me is when they go back to school and I retake control of my home! (*) Just kidding! I love it when they are out. Even though i have to work, the stress of having to run them around is less for a week! Hope you enjoy your spring break!

    hugs

    Micole Black

    • Tawny Weber says:

LOL Micole, I think once we have kids, all breaks tend to be off. Its amazing how I used to think I needed a week to relax and now would be satisfied with an afternoon ;-) Like you say, even a week of not having to run them here and there is a mini-vacation in itself ;-)

      Happy breaktime!
