In spite of my best efforts to resist, I’ve once again gotten sucked into another year of Reality tv. I keep making a New Year’s resolution to keep away from these shows, but I’m totally addicted–and once again I’m Dancing With the Stars, American Idol-ing, and taking in the New York Housewives’ cat fights.

Of all of these shows, Dancing With the Stars is my favorite. I adore the costumes and would love for Derek Hough or Maks or Mark teach me the Cha Cha. I especially loved last season because Donny Osmond, aka The First Boy I Ever Loved, was a contestant–and he won!

At least I’ve managed to resist certain reality shows. I don’t watch The Bachelor, Survivor, or Celebrity Fit Club. I did, however, get sucked into Jersey Shore and am embarrassed to admit that I couldn’t miss an episode. I was entertained and totally appalled and can’t wait for season 2. I think I need Reality Rehab!

So–do you watch any reality tv shows? Which are your faves and which do you avoid? Any you wish you could quit, but can’t?

Hey Jacquie, I do watch some reality tv, but not many. I love the The Amazing Race because the travel to such wonderful places, but I don’t watch it regularly. I also do some American Idol-ing, but usually when they have already made it to Hollywood. BETalso has a reality show called First Sunday that I love to watch. It is like the Gospel American Idol…I love it! Every now and then I will catch epis of DWTS and maybe an epi or two of Survivor and The Bachelor.
I will be gone most of the day, but I hope you have a wonderful time today. I will check back in when I get back.
Peace and love,
Paula R.
Hi Paula!
I’ve always wanted to check out Amazing Race and never have–I’ll add it to my list. Another show I’d like to try is Biggest Loser. It seems like it would be very inspirational.
I hear you on BL being an inspiration. I watch it every now and then, and I am amazed at the whole roller coaster ride. I also like to watch the epis where former “losers” get together to celebrate doing well.
The BET show I watch is Sunday Best, btw…not sure why First Sunday popped into my head. WAAYYYY too early in the a.m. when I posted.
Peace and love,
Paula R.
The only ones I watch are Survivor and The Amazing Race — I used to watch The Apprentice, which was interesting early on, but is just absurd now, and most of the other ones don’t interest me at all, not even tempted.
Sam
Ah, Samantha, you are a stronger woman than I, LOL! And your mention of The Apprentice reminded me that I’ve gotten sucked into watching the Celebrity Apprentice–forgot about that one! Started watching it because of Michael Johnson–we were at the stadium the night he won his Olympic gold medal in Atlanta in 1996. Very cool! Enjoy watching him on the show.
Project Runway! Top Chef! I wish I could stop watching Shear Genius because Matthew McConaughey’s girlfriend’s accent is driving me nuts. :-O
Hey Heather!
OMG–I totally forgot that I also watch Project Runway and Shear Genius, LOL!! Talk about a brain fart! Love both shows. I wish my sister-in-law would try out for Shear Genius. She’s a fabulous hair dresser and has the perfect sort of outgoing personality to be on the show.
Oh man Jacquie, I love reality shows! American Idol and Dancing With the Stars are my favorites! I love The Amazing Race! I have watched every season! Other ones I watch Top Chef, Kitchen Nitghtmares, The Bachelor (not so much anymore though), Millionaire Matchmaker (my husband got me started on this show), The Apprentice, So You Think You Can Dance, Extreme Homemakeover, among some others. My love for some of the shows are waning though. They have just been on to long.
American Idol this year is pretty bad but I am still watching it and loving all the comments! Ellen sure is funny, especially last night! I think I watch the show just to hear the judges comments. Love it!
Hey Michele!
Oops–I watch So You Think You Can Dance, also! Can’t believe I’m forgetting all these. I’ve only watched one season of The Bachelor–it was the one with the Navy doctor, Andy Baldwin. I’m wondering what’s going to happen to Idol after this season when Simon leaves. Love him or hate him, he’s pretty much the star judge.
My sister watches Milliionaire Matchmaker and said it’s good. I’ve so far been able to resist–but not sure how much longer I’ll be able to hold out, LOL!
Fortunately for me I have managed to avoid reality shows. I did watch a few first episodes of several of them but didn’t get interested enough stick with it.
Good for you, Ellen! I wish I was could avoid them–but I keep getting sucked right in, LOL!
The only reality tv show I’ll watch is Dancing with the Stars. I don’t know if you would count the challenges on the Food Network, if you do then I watch those as well.
Hey Nicole! I’ve seen Iron Chef a few times–love that show! And yeah, like you, I’m hooked on Dancing With the Stars. I want to wear those dresses!
Not being a lover of “reality TV” I resist most of it but have gotten sucked into some!! Did that make any sense?? Please don’t answer!!
Love DWTS, the only season I have missed was the first one & for some reason I watched the final show & immediately fell in love with it. It is one of my favorite programs. Loved when Donny Osmond won. He was a teen idol when my girls were growing up. Thanks to TV I’ve watched Donny & Marie grow up and been entertained by both of them. I confess to watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette but often wonder why! Did any one else watch The Shark Tank? That was surprisingly interesting watching people present their “brilliant” ideas and ask the experts for money to fund their dream. How about Who Do You Think You Are? & Undercover Boss! Looks like I am developing a bad habit. I’m a TV junkie as I watch a lot of shows on a regular basis. I won’t bore you with the list. My favorite new show is The Good Wife, I have found it one of the better shows. That is my opinion anyway!
Hi Donna:
I did see a few episodes of Shark Tank–thought it was really interesting. don’t know what happened to that show. I’ve heard of Who Do You Think You Are and Undercover Boss, but haven’t watched them. Also haven’t watched The Good Wife, but I’ve heard it’s excellent. My current fave show (aside from all these reality shows I’m addicted to!) is Big Bang Theory. Ever seen that one? I think it’s a riot.
Hey Donna, I watch Who Do You Think You are too…I think it is amazing what people discover about themselves and ancestors. They really need to have one for people who aren’t celebrities though. Undercover Boss has some really cool epis too. The ones I have seen, have the bosses crying when they realize how much work their people do and they bend over backwards to help them when they reveal their “true identity.”
Peace and love,
Paula R.
Okay–I def have to check out both of those shows (because I don’t already watch enough reality tv, LOL!)
I’m totally hooked on The Biggest Loser. I know there is all sorts of drama with the show, but it keeps me motivated to keep losing weight. I love Bob and Jillian and the training tips thrown in during the show.
I actually met Bob! He was signing his book at a store right near my home in Atlanta. He was very nice and personable.
