…it’s because they are. Oh, my. My, my, my.
People, I am obsessed.
I thought that Henry was good-looking in THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO. Adored him in TRISTAN AND ISOLDE and I CAPTURE THE CASTLE. But what really won me over was his role as the Duke of Suffolk in Showtime’s THE TUDORS. Let’s look at this photo first, shall we?

Well, it goes without saying that he’s gorgeous. We’ll talk about his face in the next photo, but in this one I want you to notice a couple of things. 1.) Chest hair!!! Real manly chest hair! Not enough to make him look like a gorilla, but enough to let a girl know that this guy doesn’t spend more on razors or wax than you do. That’s a plus in my book. I think some guys have taken the man-scaping a little too far. 2.) Leather pants. Not many men can pull this off, but on Henry? Humina, humina. I need a second. Okay. S’all good.
Now Exhibit B…

Mercy, just look at that face. Lovely, lovely bone structure. The fullish lips, the cleft in his chin, slightly hollow cheekbones. And that hair. Slightly curly, long enough to run your fingers through but not so long as you feel like it’s a competition. He’s effortlessly, AMAZINGLY sexy. And the best part of his appeal? He doesn’t seem to realize he has any. And that’s what makes him the total package in my book. (Or books, lol.)
Authors, do you ever get stuck on a particular guy who becomes the inspiration for your heroes? Readers, do you ever realize who the author is describing?
Inquiring minds…

Oh, he is pretty.
Oh, I do use TV guys all the time — they are almost always the inspiration for various heroes. Though I am on a huge Mark Harmon kick at the moment (have loved him forever, but renewed interest as I started watching NCIS on DVD) so have to figure out how to write in one of those sexy 40+ heroes.
Matthew Morrison (Glee) is also a new mental model for me. I would love him to play Dan in my May release, if it was ever on screen.
(Hey, a girl can fantasize…).
I have to admit, though, as a reader, I have read some books that were so thinly veiled heroes based on Sawyer from LOST or Spike from Buffy, that that can be a little irritating, because to me, it interfers with me really forming my own mental vision of the hero, if I can see the TV char too clearly. So basing them on the person is okay, I think, but we still have to make the character in the book their own person… IMO

Oh I love this guy. I read on-line he was considered for the role of Edward in Twilight, (did I get that name right, the vampire) Henry is just another example of amazing looking men from the UK. (Clive Owen, Gerard Butler, Yada, yada)
Actually, I am amazed from visiting blogs just how many authors base their heroes on real life models or actors, physically of course. Had no idea. (H)
I can understand why you’d be obsessed, he’s very good-looking!
If the author doesn’t say who they base their characters off of I’d never know because I usually create the character in my head. Plus I don’t watch too much TV besides sports to know characters.
Wow! He is very yummy! As far as I know I haven’t seen him in anything or if I did had no idea who he was. I second all the attributes you mention! (Y) Seeing all these men with no chest hair is just not real and there are times it is a total turn off. I’m also tired of seeing men with the I didn’t shave look. It has been over done as things tend to be! There are times when men look best with good grooming. Just my humble opinion!
When I’m reading a book I find myself thinking who could play this character, both male & female! Sometimes I can’t come up with a name or an actor/actress. Great subject, thanks for sharing the pictures. (H)
I love him too. I liked his Tudors character better before Henry broke him though
Ooooh, it’s so awesome to discover someone else with Henry love!!! I didn’t really know who he was when I watched Tristan & Isolde (a good excuse to watch it again). I only discovered him in The Tudors and fell instantly in love! He’s truly, truly spectacular! So much so, I blogged about him too
Can’t say that I have watched any of his work – but will be making a mental note to check it out! Personally I love the Blaze book line and though one shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover – I particularly remember one of you blaze books “The Loner” which was excellent by the way, (I have reread it several times. Love the characters, storyline and love the witty/sassy dialogue, it cracks me up when he shut her little charade down. I love it when men have a pair , but are able to be sensitive too!) – the cover was H O T !!!! Talk about hero inspiraton. Thank you blaze photographers!!!!! Anxiously await your next blaze!!!
I just read a book and I pictured him as the hero!
I agree with every word – I am obsessed with Henry too. He is just stunning. I am going through withdrawal without seeing him in The Tudors every week. I wish we would see more of him!!!! He is simply “perfection.” :-P
In fact!!! We’re describing the Perfection! He’s fascinating, beautiful… he’s the Man. It’s impossible not to be obsessed with him!!
