Unexpectations? What is she talking about? Recently I submitted a project to a publisher and it got referred to another publisher. One that I had no expectation that the project would sell. I promptly forgot about this and started to work on my other projects.

Last Friday, I found out that this project sold. I literally laughed out loud. It got me thinking about hope and how when we hope for something and it doesn’t work out we’re disappointed. On the same day that I got this good news, I had submitted a contract on the third townhouse I wanted to buy. I had already sold my home, so I really needed to find a place to live. The two previous townhouses I had great expectations for. I’d already decorated them, figured out what I was going to plant and what I was going to take out of the front yard. So many expectations only to face disappointment.

After I finished the paperwork, I decided that this would be the day of Great Unexpectations. Lo and behold, I got the townhouse and the sellers are even going to let me move in early so that I won’t have to move twice.

The point then is sometimes it’s okay not to have expectations. Every once and a while, great unexpectations can really work.
Have you had a situation of great unexpectations?

Hey Karen, congrats on getting the townhouse and selling the one you didn’t expect to.

I think my one tale of great unexpectation is that I was able to become friends with one of my favorite authors in real life. You know, you contact them online, on their blogs, and chat allover the blogosphere, but you never expect to meet them in person. Well, I never expect to meet them in real life, though one can always dream. Well, the moment you meet them could be one of great expectation and hope. You hope they will be as nice as they presented themselves online, and you hope that they like you as a person and a fan. It is quite unexpected to be recognized by them and to have them invite you to have dinner or something. That is one of the best feelings.

I have learned that in life, one can’t go through each day with too many expectations because life is so random. Anything can happen, and you just never know what the day will be like when you wake up. Once I let that go, I was able to experience life to it’s fullest and on my terms. I got to travel to Korea, Hawaii, and various places and islands. I never expected those things to happen, but the randomness of life put me in a position to experience all that. So three cheers for Great Unexpectations!!! Have a wonderful day. I will check back in later.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

    Karen,
Great news on the town house – now you get to envision how it’s going to look. I always try to remember that to everything there is a reason. You may not know the reason now, but I am sure in time it will become clear to you. Speaking of great unexpectations- I read “Deliciously Dangers” about a week or so ago and really enjoyed it, actually when I picked it up at the store I hadn’t realized it was the continuation of the undercover lovers series(even though it’s right on the front cover/ have mercy on me, I have three kids ages 6, 5 & 2 the fact That I could swing by the books before hitting the toy section was a small miracle in itself!) I was thrilled when I started reading it late that night. Talk about great unexpectations – I was just looking to escape into a romance for a while before going to bed. Honestly, I think I might have squealed (quietly of course)!
So- I have a question for you – Jammer makes this wonderful crab, artichoke lasagna roll recipe for Callie. It sounded so wonderful ( start with olive oil, sautee onions add minced garlic and mushrooms – need I say more) I trompled around a few recipe sites looking for this receipe (never to find it exactly). Came up with some sort of measurements and tried it out Wednesday night – it turned out pretty good. Kinda messy on the rolling up part. Do you have this receipe measurements. I would like to make it again “correctly” – if you don’t mind to reply back with it.
Best of luck with the move, make sure you plan an extra day to recover/ I mean rest!!!
    God bless,
    Christina
