I do love spring. This year, the pollen has been very sneezy, but everything looks so pretty that it’s hard to complain. We have a birm full of periennials, and when they start popping up, I always forget what we have there. The peonies nearly got weed-whacked, because I didn’t remember them, and I think there must have been some serious peony-lovin’ going on, because I think they have multiplied this year.
We planted two apple trees several years ago, and this year, I THINK we will have apples. Not a lot, but I only need one to take a picture of it, and save it for posterity. One of my favorite spring flowers is the daffodil. It’s always one of the first to poke its head above ground, and unlike some flowers, it never looks ragged or scrawny. There’s something wonderful about spring, and I find that it’s easier to write in the spring because to me, romance is about new lift and new seasons.
So, question for all, what’s your favorite spring flower (or tree)? I’ve got an April release (JUST FOOLING AROUND) AND a May release (LONG SUMMER NIGHTS), that I’ll give away to one lucky commenter!
Happy April!

When the crocus shoots first pop up through the earth, then my heart starts to thaw. I also love jonquils, forsythia, lilacs, and just about anything that blooms with color. Even dandelions are cheery! But my very favorite signs of life after Winter are the perrenials in my flower boxes. I have two long, white flower boxes which stay on my front porch all year long. For many years, those boxes have held my floral pride and joy: my miniature lavender mums. The greenery has already sprouted, and now I start the long wait for the buds, and then the glorious little blooms. The mums look like perfect lavender cake icing flowers! Many people do not like the smell of mums. However, I love their spicy, earthy scent!
Love the crocus! I forgot about those. it’s a great time when winter starts to thaw out.
I love Bradford Pear trees and Lilacs…and of course, what is Spring without Tulips. I am not much of a gardener…I tend to kill more than grow…but I love to see other people’s works of art in their yards and enjoy all the beautiful smells.
Oh, Kara, our street is lined with Bradford Pears and they all turn white at the same time. And when they lose the flowers, it’s like New Year’s Eve with all the white confetti blowing through the air! And lilacs! How could I forget about lilacs? They do smell awesome.
I love tulips, but I think I need to replant mine (along with my daffodils) because all I got this year was green leaves
How very sad. Good luck with replanting.
I love flowers and flowering trees, of course my allergies don’t like them but that’s what they make allergy medicine for. I like daffodils too, plus crocus, hyacinths (hope that’s spelled right), tulips, peonies, dogwood trees, redbud trees, lilacs, and iris’. I really don’t know of any I don’t like. We are lucky were I live to have some really beautiful flowering trees. My youngest daughter has the most beautiful peonies in her yard, they are huge. I’ve never seen any that big. I love the smell of them. Unfortunately I live in an apartment so I don’t have a yard to plant anything, I miss that.
I love it when my Peonies bloom, also when my chives start to poke through, I know winter is over, YAY! (H)
Lilacs are my favorite. This year so far they are beautiful..
I like lilacs and weeping cherry trees. I love the little pink blossoms on them. It’s too bad that they only last for a little while.
Love the weeping cherries! I would love to plant one of those in our yard….
My favorite flower/plant is the bleeding heart… every house my grandmother ever lived at, she planted a bleeding heart… love the pink hearts!
I’m a sucker for pansies and violas. I also love sweet williams. Those are my three early bloomers. I really love Gerber Daisies too. OK, I admit it, I like all the flowers! (F)
I love spring flowers. I have some beautiful tulips in my yard. I can’t wait to plant more. They make me smile.
I don’t think I have a favorite spring flower. I love them all!!! There is a reason I have a degree in floriculture.
Spring is finally hitting in this little Alaskan town we live in…though the folks up on the hill still have 3-4 feet of snow. I am loving the green grass shoots and the daffodils poking their heads up.
Oooh, lilacs. Those bring back so many memories of my childhood. I love the scent! LOL – so today, I will pick lilacs as my favorite.
I love tulips, especially the minature ones.
My absolute favorite flower, the one that makes me happy just looking at it is the tulip. I love the smell, the simple look of it, and the lovely variety of colors.
I have what is called a golden rain tree that has a multitude of really small golden flowers that turn into red seed pods. Therefore you get two gorgeous bloomings instead of just the one. Not that it always blooms in the spring because of the weather. Sometimes its earlier and sometimes its later but when ever it blooms it spectacular!
I think cherry blossom trees are beautiful!
You know I never thought I actually had a favorite flower or flowering “thing” until this winter. I was suddenly struck with a sentimental longing for open windows, a balmy summer breeze rippling through the house, carrying the soft, powdery sweet scent of lilacs.
Since I now live in a condo (ironically enough in the “Lilac Village” where I have no lilacs at all around me), I ended up buying lilac scented lampe berger oil and kicking on a fan. LOL. It wasn’t quite the same, but close enough.

Tulips are by far my favorite flower. Love seeing them in bloom, but hate how short their season is.
