The kitchen thermometer is flirting with 100° F in the shade, so I’m declaring that summer has arrived. Bring on the ice cream! I like ice cream that has stuff in it. Crunchy, gooey stuff. Not so much the fruity stuff, although I love raspberry sherbet. But we’re talking ice cream today. Vanilla is essential for topping pies and making Dr Pepper floats, my deadline fuel, but if I’m eating ice cream by itself, I want nuts, and caramel, and chocolate. PecanPralines_BoxMy current favorite is Blue Bell Pecan Pralines ‘n Cream. I like Blue Bell, but it’s expensive. On the other hand, I detest the way other brands are downsizing. Or even worse, whipping the product so that air increases the volume and leaves foam when it melts. Blech. So Blue Bell remained the gold (or brown-rimmed) standard for us until my brother-in-law claimed his home-town favorite, graeters-pintGraeters, was better. Impossible. So he ordered it and served it to us. And, well, okay. It was better. But not by much and at $4.99 a pint, now that it’s available locally at Krogers, it’ll remain a holiday treat.

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?

Breyer’s Health Bar Toffee Bar Crunch is my favorite. I can find it in Florida but not in Wisconsin. In Wisconsin my favorite was Blue Bunny’s Exquisite Mint but I can’t get it any more.

So in Wisconsin I visit the University of Wisconsin Babcock Dairy Store. Love Union Utopia and Mint Fudge Ribbon.

I’ve tried Blue Bell in Florida, several different flavors. My husband and I did not like the taste of any of them. Strange because others told us they liked it too. A case of different strokes for different folks!

My favorite ice cream flavor is “coffee”! Here’s an easy recipe for ice cream lovers:

    COOKIES ‘N CREAM PARFAITS

In a tall parfait glass, place one scoop of your favorite ice cream. Crumble some cookies of your choice (good way to use broken pieces), and add enough cookie pieces to cover ice cream. Top with a little of your favorite syrup. Repeat. Top off with whipped cream, nuts, sprinkles, candy, cookie pieces…whatever you like. Just be sure to put a cherry on top : )

When I was pregnant with my youngest, there was nothing like low fat cookies and cream with hot fudge sauce. Yummy.

One of my favorite things, Ice Cream. I eat it all year long even on cold winter nights. My favorite is Wegmans Chocolate Chip. The chocolate chips are the perfect size and the vanilla ice cream is yummy. But if you give me vanilla, Cookies N’ Cream, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, or any ice cream with peanut butter in it I wouldn’t turn it down lol

Yummy, ice cream. Love ice cream, most of my family does! My favorite is Trader Joe’s Coffee Blast, scrumptious, other top choices are Haagen-Daz Rocky Road because it has marshmallow cream not marshmallows! Starbucks Caramel Macchiato those are the top favorites but there are several others that are also well liked. Partly it depends on what is on sale as I like the pricey ice cream, if I am going to be bad I want really good bad!! :-D My doctor told me he thinks ice cream is one of the worst inventions, ever! Maybe because my cholesteral is a tad high! I’m not giving it up but am trying to not over indulge!

    Great topic Tawny. (Y)

My favourite ice cream is plain Vanilla with fresh ground black pepper on top :D

Other than that I’ll take any that is going (banana is nice) as I just loooove ice cream :D

    • I haven’t tried ice cream with pepper, but this morning, someone mentioned pepper with sweets. There’s a popular sauce here – raspberry chipotle. Hot and sweet.

Mmm…ice cream. Truly one of my reasons to get out of bed in the morning!! My favorite is Peppermint Bonbon. I haven’t seen it in years… :-( Mint chocolate chip is a decent substitute, and much more readily available! Yum.

all the suggestions sound very yummy, but THE best flavor is Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia, cherry flavored ice cream, dark choclate chunks and black cherries. It is killer, and my favorite reward for pages completed.. try it!

Hi Heather! I like most of the others love my ice cream! My favorites are cookies and cream, butter pecan and mint and chip. But the mint and chip with the shaved chips not the chunky chips. Now I really want ice cream. You think ice cream works as a breakfast food? LOL!
    Have a great day! (*)

My husband has been dianosed as diabetic, but we have discovered that Blue Bell puts out a No Sugar Added series of ice creams. They taste as delicious as other Blue Bell Ice Creams. My favorite is the Half-Chocolate, Half-Vanilla, but the Butter Pecan is a close second. I have both in my freezer at present, along with their Strawberry. Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! In fact, I will just stop and enjoy some.
