Greetings, Blaze Babes!
First, my regrets for Orlando! I’ll definitely miss seeing everyone. Sounds like you’ll have a fantastic time at the Harry Potter ride and display. Very jealous.
If you’re attending M&M at the beginning of October, be sure to let me know, I’ll be there, and am looking forward to a great conference.
Lately, I’ve been preoccupied with tackling the slush pile. It’s always an eye-opener, in the best sense. I love to read what authors find interesting in terms of premises and characters and the compelling romances that result.
I’ve also been editing Blaze novels that’ll be released in December. No matter how many I’ve done, it still seems really odd to me to be basking in high temperatures and sunny skies, but reading and working on romances that are all about wintery Christmas!
I promise to have better stuff with my next blog post in September! I have to confess that I’m consumed by the World Cup right now! Ole!

Hello Kathryn, thanks for taking the time to post something. Kudos to you for going through the slush pile; it gives unpubs hope that their work will be read. You sound very busy. I hope you have a great rest of the day, and enjoy the World Cup.
Peace and love,
Paula R.
Hi Kathryn! I can just imagine how big that slush pile is. And I agree it has to be a little hard reading about winter when its so nice and warm outside. Although it feels a little like winter in my house. My husband and kids are always hot so the air seems to run all the time during the summer, while Im running around with a sweatshirt on, lol! Well Have a great day and enjoy the games!! (*)
Uummm…what exactly is a ‘slush pile’?
I look forward to December’s titles. The World cup has been so exciting. New Zealand is doing really well
Hi Kathryn! I’m popping over from The Romance Bandits (Your fab Blaze author Tawny Weber’s one of our Romance Bandits!) to say hi!
As Paula said, it’s always encouraging to know that editors DO go through the slush pile from time to time. Grins. None of mine in there, but I hope you find something fabulous to bring to Blaze! I adore Tawny’s books, and several of the other Blaze authors as well. Just picked up Vicki Lewis Thompson’s June Blaze. WOOT!
Thanks for bringing us such great authors and stories. I’m kinda obsessed with World Cup too, so I’m off to watch some more highlights of games I missed. Ha! We’ll miss you in Orlando! (H)
December Blazes’! I hope there is something that is going to keep us nice & warm during the Holidays! (L) I love Blaze. (Y) All of the ones this month look so good. Keep up the good work an an editor.
I always look forward to the holiday themed novels of December. It gives me just the write jolt of nostalgia and romance. LOL. I’m such a sap for that. And I have to say, slush pile stories on writing blogs are fast becoming my favorite. I think you can learn a lot from them and I love getting to see how submissions are viewed from “the other side” of the desk.
Hi! I’ll be at the M&M conference this week! Hope you’re interested in a YA paranormal submission.
