EDIT: WINNERS LISTED IN COMMENTS

I’m in Orlando, partying conference style all week – so I’m posting ahead of time and although I’ll try to get internet to check in today, it might be sketchy.

So I thought I’d use the day to play a little game :-)

Answer as many of these questions as you’d like -for each answer, I’ll toss your name in the hat to win goodies from the conference (free books, doodahs from the goodie room, whatever I bring home).

*Name three books on your nightstand right now (if you don’t have books -first off, why not?- and secondly, go ahead and name three things instead)

*If you could ask any character you’ve ever read for advice, who would you ask and on what topic?

*What one character would you trade places with for 24 hours?

*Pick up the book you’re currently reading, turn to page 172 and share the third line on the page.

*What book in your TBR pile are you most looking forward to reading?

Hope you have a GREAT day. And if you’re in the Orlando area, stop by the RWA Literacy Signing this evening from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Walt Disney World® Dolphin Resort, Pacific Exhibit Hall

Hey there Tawny! I hope you’re having a mahhvellous time!
Nightstand books: Sarah Mayberry’s HER SECRET FLING, Marie Donovan’s MY SEXY GREEK SUMMER, and Heather MacAllister’s HIS LITTLE BLACK BOOK.
Advice from Matt Fraser’s character in Kate Hardy’s THE FIREFIGHTER’S FIANCE: How did you manage to live with a woman so long without acting on your attraction to her?
Trading places with a character: Taylor Manning in Debbie Macomber’s THE MANNING SISTERS, as I’d enjoy being a teacher (just for a day) and I’d love the attraction to Russ Palmer’s character.
Current book: Lauren Dane’s MAKING CHASE. “Some half an hour later, Matt walked through her front door, looking very intent. (Without taking his eyes from her, he threw the locks and pulled the cord to the front blinds, casting the room into pale light. “Bend over the couch arm, Tate.” [he said].)
TBR book: I guess it’s always “the next book”, so that would be Kay Stockham’s HER BEST FRIEND’S BROTHER.

  2. Alina Duffer says:

Morning Tawny! Have fun at RWA! Wish I could be there!

    Ok so here goes-

3 books- The Defender-Cara Summers, The Tutor-Hope Tarr and Simon Says- Donna Kauffman

I have no clue about this one. I have read so many books with so many wonderful characters. I would probably want to get all the kick ass heroines together and get some pointers on how to be, well more kick ass, lol!

Ok so everyone knows Im a total Twihard so I would definetly have to say I would trade places with Bella. Anything to get my hands on Edward, lol! I know Im terrible this morning, lol!

I am just starting reading The Defender so here it is- “You have to admit it was a very clever plan.” Now I’m curious as to what the clever plan was, lol!

As for what book in my TBR pile I’m most excited to read, that is like picking a favorite child, lol! I cant pick just one. I’m excited to read them all. If I wasnt writing I would have already gotten through them all by now and been left with nothing until I get next months books, lol!

Have a great day Tawny! Enjoy RWA! (*) (D)

  3. Betty Hanawa says:

Do books on an ebook reader count? ;-) It makes a much more neat TBR stack. My big anticipation book is the Aug 3 release of Robin D. Owens’ HEART JOURNEY.

Wishing I was there to hug you.

  4. Patsy Roberts says:

    (C) Hey Tawny I hope you are having a great time at the RWA conf.

Books on my night stand~ Diana Palmer’s~ Dangerous, R C Ryan’s~ Montana Legacy and Montana Destiny.

Advice/question because I can not fathom being attracted to someone so much that you can’t get them out of your head knowing that the person scares the heck out of you. Just a little understanding would help. LOL ~ Lori Foster’s character Sergeant Osbourne Decker from Do you hear what I hear? (A Very Merry Christmas) Why were you still attracted to Marci Churchill so much you couldn’t get her out of your head when you believed she was a kook and crazy for being a pet physic especially since you didn’t believe they existed? ( His character had been in a relationship with a crazy woman that put him through hell before he got free of her. That was before he met Marci)

Trade places with~ Julie Remmington form Linda Lael Millers The McKettricks of Texas, Garrett. She found THE MOST amazing man in the world who was willing to do anything to make her happy and even took her son in as his own and never looked back in the end. ;-) My hubby did the same with me too but it was just so romantic to see it through someone else’s eyes.

Current book~ Harlequin Blaze, Lisa Renee Jones, Hard and Fast~ “He let her maneuver into his position, then he grabbed (the bottle of soap from the side of the tub, “Let me help.”)”

TBR list~ Diana Palmer’s Dangerous and Carly Phillips Kiss me if you can. :-)

I hope everyone has a fabulous day today. ;-)

I have one, Heart of the Dragon by Gena Showalter. I’m a read one book at a time girl.

*If you could ask any character you’ve ever read for advice, who would you ask and on what topic?

This is a tough one, I honestly don’t know the answer to this one, but if I think of it I’ll come back to post it.

*What one character would you trade places with for 24 hours?

Sam from Slow Heat by Jill Shalvis, who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by hot ball players and be with the catcher.

*Pick up the book you’re currently reading, turn to page 172 and share the third line on the page.

How odd, she thought, shaking her head.

*What book in your TBR pile are you most looking forward to reading?

Make Your Move by Samantha Hunter

Hope you enjoy RWA. I hope to make it there some day!!

  8. Jane Squires says:

What is on my nightstand? The Protector by Carla Capshaw, the Red Siren by M. L. Tyndall and The Blue Enchantress by M. L. Tyndall to name the top three. I have about 8 on my nightstand and about 300 in my room.

Since it would be hard to pick characters from all the books I’ve read and reviewed, I went with one I am reading right now – Faith Westcott – what it was like to be a lady pirate and I fully relate to her questioning her faith at times as we all do.

I wouldn’t change places with any of the characters except for adventure because I would miss my grandchildren.

page 172 – third line is – “last minute, they jerked aside, some tumbling to the ground, others”

  9. Jane Squires says:

I forgot last question – book on TBR pile most looking forward to reading – all of them and that will take me a long while

  10. katie says:

Name three books on your nightstand right now (if you don’t have books -first off, why not?- and secondly, go ahead and name three things instead)
I right now have a messy nightstand. I am working on cleaning off my nightstand, but at the moment, it is totally a mess (my only excuse is that I have been out of town for about five weeks and that is one of my projects, so hopefully, it will get done before school starts!).

*If you could ask any character you’ve ever read for advice, who would you ask and on what topic?Toughie…..I’d probably ask Emma or some other female Jane Austen character, although, they tend to mettle in other’s lives….LOL.

*What one character would you trade places with for 24 hours?
    Emma from Jane Austen’s “Emma”.
*Pick up the book you’re currently reading, turn to page 172 and share the third line on the page.
I just finished a book and put it in the Goodwill pile and haven’t chosen the ‘next one”. Sigh. I am failing again.

*What book in your TBR pile are you most looking forward to reading?
I think the NASCAR ones. Not sure on this one or the VLT ones (her current cowboy series). Unfortunately, it is going to be dependent on what I feel like tonight. LOL.

  11. Colleen says:

3 books- Diane Gaston’s GALLANT OFFICER, FORBIDDEN LADY, Elizabeth Boyle’s HOW I MET MY COUNTESS, Parker Blue’s BITE ME
I would ask… I do not know, so many choices and areas I could lean towards…
24 hour trade off- Hmmm I would like to step into one of Catherine Coulter’s historical ladies’ shoes…
pg 172, 3rd line- Tranville took a step towards him.
I am looking forward to a couple of Lorelei James’ cowboy books I have for my e-reader.
    :-D

  12. Jane says:

    Have fun, Tawny.
Three books on my night stand right now are Linda Castillo’s “A Whisper in the Dark,” Christie Craig’s “Weddings Can Be Murder” and Stephanie Rowe’s “Ice.”

  13. EllenToo says:

Top three books: The Man From Texas by Rebecca York
    Special Assignment:Baby by Debra Webb
The Sheriff of Shelter Valley by Tara Taylor Quin
Page 173-Third Line: Ron was notorious for running late, but even his car was parked out front.
Book in TBR: The Man From Texas by Rebecca York

  14. Joder says:

*Janet Evanovich/SIZZLING SIXTEEN, Julia Quinn/TEN THINGS I LOVE ABOUT YOU, and Kate Pearce/SIMPLY SEXUAL

*I’d ask Vishous from Ward’s BDB about what he sees happening in my future.

*Stephanie Plum–she has an exciting job (that I know I could do way better at) and has two gorgeous men wanting her.

*From Burning Up by Susan Andersen…”Excuse me?” She turned back. “I’m not your lackey, Donovan.”

*Sarah MacLean/Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake

I hope you’re having a great time and I’m totally jealous of you right now. Great weather, great food, and great fun.

  15. Deanna Pelletier says:

My Bible, my meds and my journal are on my nightstand. I really cannot answer any of the other questions right now. I don’t read much because I don’t have time. I have three kids and go to school. I do however have a plan to start reading one evening each night from now on. I need to change some of my habits and reading is the healthy thing I want to add. :-) (F)

  16. Tammy Yenalavitch says:

3 books on my nightstand: Whisper by Nancy Warren, In Hot Pursuit by Joanne Rock and Naughty But Nice by Jill Shalvis

I would ask Miss Jane Marple (Agatha Chrisie) for advice about family and life

I would like to trade places with Nancy Drew for one day to solve mysteries with my friends

From Whisper page 172 : where he touched her , :No, not cream” he corrected

Most looking forward to Naughty But Nice since I loved Leslie’s Kelly book, Naturally Naughty so much

  17. Lauren says:

1-Name three books on your bedside table.
The Runaway Jury by John Grisham.
    Deliciously Dangerous by Karen Anders.
Dead To The World by Charlaine Harris.

2-Who would you ask advice from and on what topic.
I would ask Sherlock Holmes advice on how to be more observant and also for some good boxing moves.

3-Who would trade places with for 24 hours.
Cat Crawfield from the Night Huntress novels by Jeaniene Frost.

    4-Page 172, line three.
Yes, she said, barely audibly. From Dead To The World.

5-What book on your TBR are you most looking forward to.
    Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Hope you’re having fun at the conference Tawny!

  18. Cathy W says:

    Ooh, fun! :-)

*Name three books on your nightstand right now (if you don’t have books -first off, why not?- and secondly, go ahead and name three things instead)
    – Getting Things Done by David Allen; An Act of Balance by Rohinton Mistry; Barnyard Dance by Sandra Boynton. LOL!

*If you could ask any character you’ve ever read for advice, who would you ask and on what topic?
    – Can it be a real person? I just read “Under the Banner of Heaven” by Jon Krakauer, and I would love to ask Joseph Smith how he was able to get so many people to believe in him after he’d been written off as a kook!

*What one character would you trade places with for 24 hours?
    – Hhmm, well, I don’t know. I haven’t read any really upbeat books recently (nor any Blazes, embarrassingly) and I would prefer to trade places with someone in a happy place!

*Pick up the book you’re currently reading, turn to page 172 and share the third line on the page.
    – “His hand moved in a tired semicircle, taking in the squalid hutments, the ragged field, the huge slum across the road wearing its malodorous crown of cooking smoke and industrial effluvium.

*What book in your TBR pile are you most looking forward to reading?
    – Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

  19. Kim Lyn says:

What a fun game … it’s made me sit and think …

#1: Actual books on my nightstand are The Ranger by Rhonda Nelson, and The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. And then there’s the several hundred I have on my Kindle.

#2: I think I’d love to sit with Robert Langdon from The Davinvi Code and Angels and Demons. Just to pick his brain and chat would be fascinating.

#3: This one I can’t think of an answer for!! There are just TOO MANY kick ass characters that I’d want to switch places with and I can’t seem to narrow it down to one!!

#4: Right now I’m reading Darkfever: The Fever Series, by Karen Marie Moning. It’s on my Kindle, so I went to location 172 … “No evidence.” Haha, Not too interesting.

#5: I have LOTS saved on my Kindle I’m looking forward to reading!! I have lots of things from Jane Austen and Charles Dickens and lots of others!!

Have an amazing time in FL!! :-)
