I’ve spent the last few weeks covering the new American TV season for the day job. I spend about 18 hours a day while I’m in Los Angeles talking to the actors, writers and producers of all the new shows on network and cable channels. (I know, tough job but someone has to do it.) I thought it might be fun to tell you about some of the hot new guys hitting the networks this fall. Now, these aren’t my favorite shows, just pretty boys to share with you.
Lonestar (Fox):
These pictures don’t do James Wolk justice. He’s honestly a cross between Cary Grant and George Clooney. His character on the show is charming, but not nearly as much as Wolk. I could eat him up.
Hawaii Five-O (CBS):
Okay, so you know most of these guys from other shows, but now they are all together. Woot. From l-r Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim and Alex O’Loughlin, and the lovely woman in the bikini is Grace Park. (By the way, the show is way cooler than you would think.)
Blue Bloods (CBS):
That Tom Selleck looks pretty awesome in a uniform. Will Estes and Donnie Walhberg also star, which means a little something for all of us.
Undercovers (NBC):
It’s hard to find a man prettier than Boris Kodjoe, even with a little blood on him.
Outlaw (NBC):
Dude it’s Jimmy Smits.
Outsourced (NBC):
I have to admit I’m totally charmed by Ben Rappaport.

I am so out of it. I only knew about “Undercovers” and “Hawaii Five O”. My mom is totally hoping they do ‘Hawaii” justice (she’s old enough to have crushes on the originals).
Katie, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Hawaii Five-O. It’s a fun action adventure with hot guys and beautiful scenery.
Good Morning Candy! I have to say that I am totally jealous of your day job. Well both your jobs, lol! I saw the posts you left on FB while you were in LA. Again, totally jealous! You got to meet and chat with all sorts of great actors and actresses. I must say one of my favorites you got to chat with was Tom Hanks. I love him! And the cast of NCIS, Love them too! As for the new shows, some of them look like something we might watch. Can’t wait for the new season to start!
Have a great day! (*)
Alina, Hanks is one of my all-time favorite people. He’s funny and kind, and he always has been. I’d never watched much NCIS, but my son discovered the show while we were in L.A. He spent an entire day of his vacation watching a marathon of NCIS. I watched it that night with him, and now I understand why you guys like it so much.
There are tons of great shows coming this fall. My DVR is going to be very busy.
Hi Candy,
Everytime I see the Lonestar commercial. I know I have to watch that show, I could look at James Wolk all day. Thanks for the updates on the other shows too. It looks like it’s going to be a good Fall.
Tammy, The pacing is off a little in that first episode but it gets better quick. It’s a little soapy, but in a good way. And honestly, I’d watch it just for James.
And I love Alex O’Loughlin too, so I have to watch Hawaii Five-0. Never did watch the original!
Candy, I am totally crushing on the guys from Hawaii Five-O, especially Alex! I know what I’ll be watching this year! But the guy from Lonestar looks kind of cute, too. And who doesn’t love Jimmy Smits? That guy just improves with age.
Margay
Margay, You won’t be disappointed in Hawaii Five-O. It really is fun. And I hear ya about Jimmy Smits.
I just had to agree with you both on Jimmy Smits. I met him years ago at a Cuban Festival in Echo Park. He was so nice! My Mom was drooling, lol!
:-P Boris Kodjoe & Hawaii Five-O r on my must see tv listing!!!!! You lucky duck
I didn’t know about Boris until we visited Undercovers. I wants to say, “Where have you been all my life.” He’s so pretty.
Thanks for the pictures … who doesn’t love a little eye candy!?! That James Wolk looks like such a charmer. My my favorite has to be Tom though. I’ve had a crush on him since I was a kid. My Grandma (who also had a crush on him) and I would watch him run around in his shorty shorts and knee high tube socks in Magnum PI. Just something about that man … cheesy ‘stache and all.
Kim, The thing about Tom is the charisma. Even though he’s aged, he still has it. He’s very present when he talks to you. That good old-fashioned eye-to-eye contact and I think that also comes across on screen. I’m not much into cop shows, but he sure does make Blue Bloods tempting.
What a fun blog Candace, thanks for the pictures & a short run down on the new shows. I’m a long time Tom Sellack fan and am delighted he is going to be doing a new show. Hopefully the time slot is not going to conflict with a show I already watch. Love the crew on NCIS, the orginal & watch NCIS L.A. when it isn’t conflicting with something else. Yes, I am old enough to remember the original Hawaii 5-0 so am curious how it will play out this time around. At least it looks like we might have some good shows to look forward to. Thanks for sharing with us. Lucky you, Tom Hanks, I think he & wife Rita would be fun to meet. (Y) (*)
Tom Hank’s wife Rita is very nice. I met her a few years ago for a show she was producing. And the new Hawaii Five-O is much more action packed, but it is good.
I am now super excited for the new shows. Hoping it doesn’t all conflict with “Glee” and DWTS and L and O.
There’s been a great deal of shifting of shows so make sure to check your listings carefully.
I’m a big Donnie Wahlberg fan so I’m looking forward to seeing Blue Bloods. Lonestar interests me too, it seems different from what FOX normally does, plus every time I see a photo of James Wolk, he reminds me a little of Kyle Chandler, whom l love from Friday Night Lights, and years ago, Homefront.
Summer, I dig Donnie too.
Lonestar is absolutely different than the kinds of things Fox does. A lot of my fellow critics love it and it’s their favorite show of the new season. I liked it and want to see where it goes. Wolk, does look like Kyle Chandler in some of the pictures, but up close he definitely has a Grant/Clooney thing going on.
cool blog, all the guys look great. My fav of the list has to be tom selleck. I’ve been a fan since way back.
I think my favorite movie line is from one of his movies, from the western Monte Walsh. I highly reccomend this movie, very good. the line…”No one sits a horse like Monte Walsh” its just a cool line, at the first of the movie, and just a great movie….
happy writing..

It’s funny how fans of Selleck go from the very young the old. There really is something about that guy.
oh definitely Tommy Boy with the mustache! He did a very engaging interview on CBS Sunday Morning a while back and you are right the man has charisma!
