Hello all!

I hope you are all having an awesome summer. It has whizzed by at light speed, and in the next few weeks the kids will go back to school. I will miss the touching moments (NOT!), finally having the peace and solitude that frankly, I think I deserve. That, and I do my best writing when the children are not around. Sometimes my son will barge into my office and stare at computer and ask me a question. It used to be (before he was a good reader and a naturally curious person) that this did not bother me. But now, my screen may be littered with graphic words and unclothed body parts and having an eleven year old looking over my shoulder, well, it bugs me.

I’ve gotten to where I will write love scenes late at night when I know that everyone is in bed, and the world becomes my character’s world, rather than my characters inhabiting my world. It’s a lot easier that way. I suppose that those who write romantic suspense are used to untimely interruptions, but since that is not me, I frown upon them.

I know there are mothers in the world who cry when their children go back to school, but my tears are tears of joy, not sorrow. I tell myself it’s because I want them to be educated. To grow up and be learned citizens of the earth. But ha! It’s all about me and my introverted self.

So, anybody else about to do the back to school dance/depression? Which is you?

Good morning Kathleen! Mine is definetly a HAPPY DANCE! LOL! I was thrilled when school started on tuesday. My two oldest are in school and it just leaves me with one home, and he starts next year. We have had such nice days just the two of us so far. We spent the day shopping yesterday and have to head back out today. Next week I plan to get back to my writing. so I’m very excited about that. And I have to say I’m glad mine can’t read yet so I dont have to worry about them reading anything they shouldn’t yet, lol!

Enjoy whats left of your summer. And enjoy your Happy Dance when they go back! Have a great day! (*)

  2. Good morning Alina! I am so glad to hear from another happy Mom. You’re going to have an amazingly empty house next year. :)

I have mixed feelings….LOL. That’s the story of my life. I enjoy the summer, I just wish it was a couple of weeks shorter. August is so busy, it’s crazy.

I don’t like September, I call it ‘training the teacher” because I have a special needs dude (well, most likely two of them are special ed, but you know), it’s working out the kinks, getting them used to my boys, me, etc and the boys getting used to them. Also, in September, they usually don’t let me volunteer, which I do because otherwise, I’d have to do stuff around the house (in addition to loving helping out in the classroom). So, I get bored. I do have lots of dr appts and a project to do (photobook from my trip, so I am excited). September is just always filled with the activities, plus, cirriculum nights and my husband at meetings (out of town), so it’s busy. Not really my favorite month, I guess. By October, I am in the groove.

  4. Hi Katie,

Sounds like back to school is a huge transition time for you, and it sounds like you’re a mom who really misses time with her boys. You treasure that, because it’s a gift. The DH and kids just left the house on a roadtrip (I’m flying in to meet them) and the house is so empty, and I’ve been whining about always having someone underfoot, and now that no one is underfoot, I really miss them. The plus side, the writing is cooking. :)

Hope Sept goes speedy for you!

Hi Kathleen, I won’t be doing the back to school dance. I am a teacher, and pretty soon the campus will be filled with over 100 hundred boarding students and my days become really full. They are no longer my own, and I am soaking up as much of the summer days that are left as much as possible. So no dancing for me.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.
