I can’t believe it’s the end of August–where did the summer go? It seems as if it just started and now it’s gone. The past three months have been filled with moving into a new house, writing like a maniac, making new friends in our new neighborhood, writing like a maniac, attending the RWA conference, writing like a maniac…you get the idea.

So many books to write, so little time!
I’ve always loved summer. When I was a kid it was all about riding bikes and going to the beach and playing with friends. Hot sunny days filled with cookouts, nights of catching lightning bugs and playing tag and kick the can (although we always used a ball instead of a can). I haven’t played tag or kick the can in a long time, but I still love cookouts and lightning bugs.

We always let them go at the end of the night.
What did you do this summer? And how did you spend your summer days when you were a kid?

It started out awesome with a trip to PARIS! That’s kinda what my folks gave me (basically, I paid for everything, but crashed in their room) for my 40th. THen, the family trip to Disneyland/Monterrey(including a sil wedding, which was interesting) and just lots of camps for August for my boys…..I am kind of ready for school to start, I love the structure.
When I was a kid, it was spent, bike riding in my cul de sac, lots of time spent outside and then a big trip in August (usually my birthday was ‘someplace else’).
I’m still getting lots of mileage from getting to go to Harry Potter. I’ve been perfecting a butter beer recipe. (B)
I remember once playing kick the can (or capture the flag – i get them mixed up) and hiding in a haystack and getting eaten alive by chiggers. How’s that for a summer memory? Mainly I remember lazy days and cool nights and staying outside until the last possible moment. Summer was a magical time full of endless possibilities. The only limit our imaginations.
Hey Jacquie, I can’t believe the summer is over either. This summer was a low key one for me. I went to Nationals and did some writing. I also visited my family in NYC. Not much traveling this year as I had done in previous years.
As a kid I played a lot of basketball during the summer. There weren’t that many cookouts, but that was okay. I went to the park and played bball, read a lot, and that’s basically it.
Peace and love,
Paula R.
I took a trip to the beach early this summer and have spent the rest of it trying to stay cool. Is it just me or has it been an abnormally hot summer? I think my brain is fried. I know my grass is looking a little parched. I can’t wait for some cooler days so I can spend some time on the porch reading a good book!
