Because this is a long weekend and my husband is home and I’m keeping my sister’s girls while she and my brother-in-law are vacationing in Mexico, this post is simply going to be an I-hope-you-are-enjoying-the-holiday drive-by greeting.

I’ll send free books from my bookshelf–not necessarily mine :-) –to commenters chosen at random at the end of the day, so be sure to check the comment tail.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Hi, Rhonda! Thank you for your very pleasant post. What a nice way to start the day! Did you have an enjoyable holiday weekend? I’m in VA, and we are having absolutely gorgeous weather–warm days and cool nights. Early Fall here in the mountains : ) My cats have come back in to start nesting, a sure sign of the change of season. September through December is my favorite time of year. What about you? What’s your favorite season? (@)

We stayed home this weekend too. It seems odd not have the kids home. My 3 sons all started college classes on August 23. It’s too far for them to travel here for a long weekend. Our daughter and her husband went to a wedding which had a pig roast on Saturday and the wedding on Sunday. I believe it’s cheaper to have the reception on a Sunday and easier to get a hall.

Weather’s really cooled off here in Wisconsin. mid 40′s a couple of mornings. Saturday did not even reach 60*! BRRR! Birch tree leaves are already turning yellow. Gearing up for fall! I already made pork stew and next up chicken pot pie. Summer is way too short a season here.

    Have a nice holiday Monday!!

    (C) Hey everyone, My hubby has to work today. He works at a golf course and everyone wants to play on Labor Day. It is a busy day for him but I am here at home trying to get my house straightened out from the neglect I have issued on it the last week.
    (H) I hope everyone enjoys their Labor Day and has a great week ahead.

Hi Rhonda! We have had a relaxing weekend here too. It’s been nice except for the cold I have gotten because of the weather change. It happens every year and just sucks, lol! Here in Indiana we have been down in the 40′s at night and up into the 70′s and 80′s during the day. My poor house doesnt know whether to use the ac or the heat. But I am enjoying the cooler weather.

Enjoy the rest of your long weekend! Have a great day! (*)

I hope you are having fun with your nieces. I am resting, getting some final ‘to-do’s” done before school starts tomorrow. Can you believe (I can’t) that I will have three boys in elementary school? Crazy.

Good to see them come; good to see them go??? I had my sister and her husband here for just over 3 weeks in July/August. We had a blast … but there WERE moments (well … one … but it wasn’t that bad … just “testy”).

DH worked Sat/Sun; I work today but am procrastinating by checking my blogs and emails first. (Some things never change.)

Overnight company just left and took our “kids” with them till tonight. It’s a rough life (NOT!).

Guess I’d better get to work now. Do enjoy what’s left of this holiday weekend.

I’m sure you will enjoy the weekend with your sister’s girls and husband home. I am going to spend the weekend reading and staying out of the way of all those who are busy shopping for bargains. :-O

My family isn’t celebrating the Labor Day weekend this year, my step-father died Friday so we are not in the mindset to enjoy the weekend. I hope everyone stays safe this long weekend. Give a big hug to someone you love.

Hi and Happy Labor Day — and hope it’s all nice and cool for everyone! :) Me, just getting ready for my next class in my back to college after a few years away. . . the first three since last year got me A’s, so hoping to continue that streak this semester! :)

    Hi Rhonda,
Happy Labor Day. Have fun with your nieces. My cousin’s neighbor is having a barbecue, so we’ll head on over in a little while.

    Condolences to your family, Linda.

Hi Rhonda, hope you’re having a great long weekend, too! I drove home to spend the weekend with my parents, and now I’m back at my own place, procrastinating because I don’t want to do all my readings for class tomorrow!

    Hi Rhonda,

We stayed home and watched movies: The Back Up Plan, Shutter Island and Clash of the Titans. Cooking hamburgers for dinner right now with homemade macaroni salad, corn on the cob with chocolate cake for dessert. Life is good.

  17. We had a relaxing weekend, had a wine and cheese and watched Mad Men, watched ball games and read. Ahhh….

My weekend was full of cleaning because the parents were coming, lol. And fighting LAX traffic is always a blast! -_-
